What did you do in the garden today?

Here is what has sprouted in my wagon greenhouse so far!
I think on Monday I will start planting some out or at least work on hardening them off. I had to open it today to drain off the water. I had poked a couple of small holes in the top yesterday and then we had 12 hours of steady rain. The bottom of the wagon was quite full of water.

I feel like I won the lottery when I found a 24 roll pack pf TP. The only thing that had limits were the bleach wipes.

You are so lucky! I haven't found a pack of TP in several months!! And disinfecting wipes are no where to be found. I miss them.

They (the store owners up here) charge us $1.99 per roll for toilet paper (2x per house) and the quality is awful.

As much as I love living in a rural environment, I will be happy when this whole corona thing is over; I'll be able to find things in the city, like toilet paper, without being subjected to price gouging.

We cut some buttercrunch lettuce to make side salads for dinner. It was delicious!

Planning on planting a ton of seeds tomorrow.

I was thinking that I could put the extra plants in the hoop garden that I have asked my hubby to make for me, but then I realized I still wouldn't have any place to plant the other things I want to grow!
I think I just need to double the size of my garden! We are going to build a raised bed like @BReeder! did. However, the original plan was to build it this year and slowly fill it with compost/dirt over the course of a year and then have it ready for next year. Hmm, I may have to rethink that plan.

Or do as I do and contemplate how much my neighbor would want to sell the next 10 feet of his property! Or eye the front yard! I stopped eyeing it and planted blackberries and asparagus in it a couple of years ago. Great choice!

Good evening gardeners. I was looking for a way to contact the mayor of my city about something and came across the city's water conservation page. I emailed asking for a packet they have available to residents and I got it in 2 days! Our city is extremely proactive about conservation. It encourages residents to collect rain water, and they have a rebate program if you go to a xeriscape landscape from grass. Here's what came in the mail

I plan to buy plants on clearance from a local nursery and over summer them in my shaded garden. Then I can transplant in fall. No grass yet, it's pretty darn hot so we'll see if it sprouts. Tomorrow we do the bunny pen. I bought some indoor/outdoor carpet to put down so she doesn't slip and slide. My broody is still broody, but the rooster we have to put down in the morning. Not happy about that. Anyway, have a great weekend everyone.

Oh, trust me, I have been eyeing my neighbors land for a long time! Ours, theirs and the neighbor on the other side all were 1 property long before we got our part, The one that has land behind us doesn't use the land for anything. He used to have 3 horses. Now the only thin on that part of his property (that he uses) is his big building that he keeps all his toys in! (think lawn maintenance vehicles and tools.)

Today was overcast, past week has been 30-42 degree nights. Have pepper and lemongrass transplants that we're waiting to be able to plant. Need to water poor things! Today i worked on the chicken run wire setup, and cleaned out the rabbit cage. We have radish and turnip green sprouts. Potatoes and hardy kiwi leafed out, got frozen, and are resprouting. Weird that potatoes froze. Never saw that before. I weeded my pea sprouts. Some are 4"tall! Escarole transplants are doing well, bok choy transplants are bolting. Bummer. The turnips and collard greens that overwintered are bolting, too, but they earned it and are also delicious. The front yard has a big patch of dirt. I dug most of a new bed a month ago, and continued today. And now have a CHICKEN to eat the grubs! Finally! She loved them. In march I transplanted a japanese plum to the bed- one of the babies from the Shiro. The shiro is delicious. Today i transplanted triple crown blackberries and supposedly thornless raspberries to the front yard bed. Rhubarb looks good. This year i cut off the flower stalk. We're waiting on strawberries and asparagus. And i looked at the most beautiful tulip for a while.

I did manage to get 2 5 gallon buckets planted with potatoes today! I had always thought that potato plants grew down and that's were the potatoes would form or that they sent out side shoots and the potatoes formed there. But a couple of weeks ago I watched a you tube video about planting potatoes in 5 gallon buckets and the guy explained that the potatoes form between the seed potato and were the stem comes out of the ground!! Well that explains why I always have such bad luck with potatoes. I always thought you were supposed to plant them very shallow with the eyes just at dirt level. So, we will see what happens this year!
It rained most of the morning but then quit and isn't supposed to start back up until tomorrow afternoon.
I also got the rooster (that broke his beak) butchered today.
My incubator eggs are supposed to hatch tomorrow. I checked them a couple times today but couldn't see anything happening yet. I did think I heard some chirping once, but it could have been birds outside.
