What did you do in the garden today?

Here the RX is about 500-700$ but has good results; vets didnt offer a slow method . . . .

Perhaps you c an use other methods to provide enough light. My mother lived in Maine and never used grow lights. Just set plants in window of front porch which was much like a green house with a full bank of windows 180 degrees. Puppy comes first!!

Oh definitely he comes first! One round of treatment cost $274 without necessary antibiotics and pain meds. If he ends up needing the second month of treatment, the two shots of it two days in a row one month after this, it will be an additional $274x2, again plus pain meds and antibiotics. He needs three full vials of the medication for every dose of it because he's so big.

We set the plants as much in front of the windows as possible, but we've got so many of them that they all can't go in front of windows. I wish we could move them outside, but the neighbor's free range chickens would probably kill them in a heartbeat and we don't have garden fencing up yet.

We play the rain game every spring it seems. At our house it's not a big deal because we have raised beds that don't have to be tilled, just turned with a fork. My dad's house is a completely different story. We are constantly dodging one rain storm or another to get his garden plowed in between rains when the ground isn't so muddy and gunky.

We did get a nice soaking last night and are supposed to get some more tonight. My peach tree is sure happy and so is my asparagus.

Hang in there. It has to dry out sometime.

Today dragged all the cut branches , mostly from nasty English Buckthorn trees and shrubs out to the street for village shredding. Can't get rid of them but, like to remove as much as possible - such an invasive species. Even with suitable gloves, long sleeves, rugged pants and safety goggles, lots of cuts and other owies. Just plain hate them

It has been raining here all week. I have plenty more to plant and additional plants to set. I did get a new compost box built. Then cleaned the chicken coop. I am going to try and scrounge. a couple old tires up to plant seeeet potatos in. As a weekend project.

If you can find them diva I recommend rose gloves, they go up to you elbows, heavy swede. Id recommend them to any gardener or person with yard work....

Hey everybody! I've been assessing my yard and I need to start a slash pile. I didn't do my veg. garden the last 3 yrs due to illness. Soil isn't that good either. I need to send a sample to see what is needed. Also, have been watching certain pines die. It's pine beetles :( So, I would like to cut down or at least de branch what I can and hire a pro, as some of the trees are quite large. They were planted as saplings about 20 yrs ago. What would I use to burn half dead pine besides dead, dry brown material? Don't fancy any petrol on the garden soil. We can't till for a few more weeks, soil is heavy with clay. mostly a good thing, but need good till in and top dressing.... ideas? TYIA!

Planting in tires? Is there any concern of leeching, or having plants that taste like tires? If not I've got several old tires that can be put to good use...
