What did you do in the garden today?

One of my hens has gone missing. No one is acting like a predator was around. I was out mowing, so I don't think she was snatched. She's my lone wanderer. If I had to guess she followed her stomach into the hay field or the cattle pasture and can't see her way home. Closer to dark I'll go call for her and see if she figures it out.

I missed the original post about the aquarium, but I would think twice about snails. They have a radula (like a rough cat tongue) that scrapes the algae. They scratch up the sides of the tank and make a better surface for algae to grow. If @NewBoots is having algae issues, I suggest limiting how much light hits the tank by leaving the light off, adding a loose cover, or maybe a plecostomus (algae eater fish).
Thanks for the help but it's a 300 gallon stock tank:

We probably only have algae in it cuz the perch were pooping nutrients into the water. We just added a pump and filter about a week ago and it already looks much better. It's been DP's project from the beginning, it was her idea to just cut the boards to size and jam them under the lip of the tank, and that worked much better than I expected. We added perch to kinda kick start the bio-cycle and give the plants something to eat. And the pump DP ordered is so powerful it makes a great splashing on the surface.

Just need a couple of tilapia.

Good luck, @igorsMistress! Though...I think a Zoom interview might be a little less nerve-wracking than the regular kind. Especially since these days it feels like you have to do three or four interviews on the same day. Crazytown.

Glad you found your hen, @WthrLady...did you give her a citation for DUI? Probation? Must only forage with an older driver?

Wild roses can be really fabulous, @rocking chickens! I hope they bloom pink as well.

@NewBoots, that is a good point about the marigolds. and warmer nights. We had a good run of those earlier, but then it cooled off...God willing they'll get going soon! Good luck with your vine maple; we've understood the need for more shade ourselves. You've thrown some sort of mulch over that hole, right? Everything in your garden looks so beautiful! Aren't borage wonderful? Plus I've treated them kind of roughly before, digging them out when there are too many and planting them elsewhere. They've never complained! Your pond and gooseberries are both beautiful. ❤
Yup, mulched the living tar out of the vine maple and covered the top few inches with even more. I've been watering it a lot as well and It'll get a devoted drip waterer as well. And I didn't know you could get away with moving borage that much. Since it brings in so many pollinators, DP wanted me to try potting some and just moving them around the garden where pollinators are needed.
Ermegerd you guys, I'm going to be sick. Job interview tomorrow at 0900.
Best of luck on that interview! Remember to wear pants :).

Too hot out to mow now, it'll have to wait till tomorrow when I can start earlier. And it turns out the bunnies like watermelon as much as the chickens do, who knew? Did a shopping pick-up this morning but did I remember to order eggs? Of course not, so to make sausage rolls tonight I'll have to mask up and hit the local McKays. Just love seeing all the pictures everyone is posting, keep it up!

She is a survivor of two fox attacks. And she still insists on wandering off alone. But that's how she chooses to spend her life, so be it. I called on and off for her for 10 minutes so she could get her bearings and I know she knew it was lock up time. So she eventually came out and wandered over to the coop. When she was let back in, the rooster gave her what for. OC the flock rooster is her son, so...... LOL.
