@Sueby - The turkeys are funny! Too bad your squash had to suffer.
small yellow squash which is definitely the last one.
Mine as well. I just pulled up the yellow squash plant this morning. I was surprised when it produced a whole new load of females, with a new flush of green. Then the female flowers bloomed and got fertilized and even grew to a small size, then started to shrivel. I think a bug got to it, and it couldn't support growing squash. So, I ripped it out. One a good note, I planted some more a few weeks ago (as seed in hills) and they are starting to produce blossoms! Might get some more yellow squash from these plants!
whole yield from one 8 foot row has been around 4 pounds at least.
Thats great! I was also happy with the yield from my green beans earlier in the season. I planted more a month ago (in the bed vacated by potatoes) and they are blooming like crazy, so I think we might get more green beans to eat this year!
Gourds: The birdhouse gourd is the go-to one for creating a shady spot - that one is growing like mad! It looks very healthy. There is another gourd (spinning gourd, heirloom variety of small green striped gourds) that I found squash bugs on this morning!!!

It appears they may be sucking the life out of the leaves on that one, but did not find any eggs laid on the leaves. In addition, that Spinning gourd also has what looks like spots of white mold on the leaves. Not seeing it on any other gourd, nor on the other Spinnning gourd plant. The Luffa gourd-to-be fell off the vine yesterday

I guess it didn't get fertilized

although I recall hand fertilizing it. The luffa gourd just isn't producing much at all. Its still warm and sunny, and I fertilized them a few days ago. Maybe they will do better.
Melon: I think the musk melon plants are breathing their last. I'm not surprised. One melon that is ripening, and the other small one I don't think will get to ripen - Once the big one turns orange (and it is turning orange on the top/stem end about 15% orange), I'll pick it and then prep that bed for some future fall planting.
Fall Planting: Thinking of mustard greens, spinach, peas, winter radish, and turnips. Hopefully the turnips grow better this time around. I have space for peas where I just ripped out the yellow squash. There is already a fence panel there for climbing - but will have to check to packet to see if they are climbing types.
It is hot to me already today - whew! Only supposed to get to 84F, but full-on sun makes it hot! Good thing I don't have too much planned for garden work today!
