What did you do in the garden today?

Actually, I think the carrots might do OK through a few light frosts. You could cover them and they should be ok until the ground actually freezes. Just a thought.

Thx! I can't stand to watch carrots grow - they do NOTHING for what seems like years (ok, ok, a bit dramatic) and then they finally put out more green, and eventually they produce a carrot....so you pull one to find a tiny sliver at the end (even if it has been 2+ months since the started to grow). But , by planting my carrots with other things I ignore the carrots, and when it is time to clean out the main crop, I have carrots (that didn't drive me crazy watching them not grow).

Good morning everyone! I ran across something and thought to myself...why did I not think of this! Some of you may already know this secret! I hate the time it takes to get herb leaves off of stalks...here's a solution, it might not work for everything, but useful none the less! She's really enjoying this...lol!

Is this ant (?) a pest for the garden?

I grew carrots once & they grew ok, but they tasted so woody. If that's a thing, lol.

Yes, that looks like a Jack in the Pulpit to me @karenerwin, not much help on anything else there. Love the monarch caterpillars!

Got the dilly beans canned & baked 4 loaves of squash bread.

My morning glory is coming in pretty good despite its late start:

Cute pup!
I just did a search for orange and Black ants in your region! That's actually a wingless female wasp, they have a very painful sting...here's some info on them. I would kill it on sight!

NAH. It's a cow killer ant. They'll run before they bite you. If it does nail you, it's because you tried to squish it or stepped on it. It will defend itself. It HURTS LIKE HELL if it gets ya. LOL. We have them all over.
The article I shared also calls it Cow Killer or velvet ant, but explains that it's actually a wasp! That being said, maybe what you have is just an ant! :)
