I finished the wall even though I promised myself I was done for the day. Not sure what I am doing with that 1 foot gap at the top, vents? Cover it up completely? I checked my 10 day forecast and the coldest night will be 45 so I probably have at least 2 weeks before I need to worry about finishing the winter garden.

3 sides up, already gets warm in there when the sun is shining.

Had enough green tomatoes for another 10 pound batch of chow after the new pot disaster.
The wife and her sister went to visit their brother so I took it upon myself to can some ripe tomatoes. This year I have ripened more tomatoes than I have in 38 years of gardening! Global warming who knows?

My birthday was last month and I got this gnome as a gift from hubs so I put him in the shade garden, love him!

I was checking my calendar, getting close to Garlic Planting time. Today I will be cleaning out the garden plot where the Garlic will be going. Probably mix in some earth worm castings and coco puffs from the rabbit pens. I went to the garden shop to buy Garlic to start with and the owner told me to go to the grocery store and buy it from the bulk section because it has no sprout inhibitors sprayed on it. Thats how he grows his garlic. He even told me which grocery store to go to.

Pulled the tomato patch yesterday and used the plants as a base in the now empty composting bins. I also dumped two heaping tractor loads onto the wild pasture hill that we can't harvest. Wild tomatoes there, sure, why not.

The compost we make over the winter goes into the front ditch in the spring to fertilize the native flowers there. So not worried about volunteers there either.Not ONE sign of disease in the volunteer patch. That's crazy.

I need to mow the portion of the patch that was too close to the fencing for the tractor. Then I'll toss in some grass seed and some erosion blanket on top. Hopefully that will fend off the hens.

Got the rest of the garlic and shallots planted, more garlic coming in the mail. It's supposed to start raining here next weekend so it's a good time to be planting. Maybe I'll even get the last 2 artichokes planted this week. The carrots are in the freezer in shrink bags, the potatoes are waiting for me to get busy and get them canned. Time to make some chicken and other various stocks for canning. I'm confident about my water bath canning so making myself can stock is a good way to get more confident with pressure canning. That's the plan anyway.

Time to go into town for the grocery pickup. Oh and, @igorsMistress, I love that gnome, meant to say so earlier but the quote thingy failed me twice. And belated Happy Birthday too!

Thanks for the suggestion but they are planted in the ground, well, the raised garden bed. I put a 5 gallon bucket over each of them. They made it through the night really well. Hopefully my hubby will build at least a small cold frame or something like that soon. We did stop and buy some supplies that he needs.
