What did you do in the garden today?

FYI roundup as we know it will stop being sold as of summer of 23. (Man that sounds weird- the 23 not roundup)
They are reformulating to mitigate $$ loss due to lawsuits.
It will still be available to farmers, probably under license, for commercial growing use.

Burned first batch of cornbread as was distracted by dog enough to forget to turn down temp.

Batch 2 out of the oven.

Sweet potatoes going into the boil.

We have lots of generators & lots of fuel for them all! We'll be ok for at least 2 weeks. & we have a shared well that has generator backup, we may be under a boil advisory, but we'll have water. We don't drink that nasty water anyway. I was talking to a guy who installs whole home generators around here, he said he's booking out well into next year that's how bad it is around here. :gig Longest I went was a few years ago at 8 days. Then we had 6 just a year or 2 ago.

I saw that truck ad the other day & asked DH if it was real or really overstated & he said probably just about true! Neat idea.
DS ran the numbers on the truck, and it's not QUITE up to the ads, but it'll do in a pinch. I KNOW they sold a LOT of them after the Texas blackout.

That's what DH said on the trucks, probably close, but not quite - depending on what you're powering.

& I didn't know that about roundup, but it only figures with all the lawsuits now. DHs family owns lots of farmland in ND & they all swear by the stuff & say it's all BS. They've been using it forever & are all still old & healthy. :idunno

ETA, I think his uncle said something about them actually soaking some types of crops in it after harvest. Which blew my mind. But I'm old & have Lupus brain so I could be remembering that incorrectly.

Right now it's the only thing that kills bindweed. I use it only on the bindweed, and it still takes years. That stuff will kill a crop faster than anything and spreads like wildfire!

I remember they did when we lived up there, but I can't remember on what. You could SMELL it when it when they did it.

I was always worried about the defoliant they used down south when they sprayed the cotton plants. You wore that for DAYS when they sprayed. No IDEA what that stuff was. You could taste it. UGH.

Picked 4 pounds of peaches. Hoping that’s enough to keep the branches from breaking. My kitchen prep table looks like a farm stand. They’re still not sure how bad the winds will be. One thing for sure it will be a nearly 3 day event. Running portable back up generators is not without expense. Gasoline is less expensive but I opted to use propane so I don’t have to worry about CO fumes. Propane doesn’t go bad either. But I’m just happy I’ll be ok. If I lose power I really only need power for the sump pump and the refrigerator and freezer. I have oil lamps and several other cooking options. The clouds from the outer storm bands and an occasional breeze are circulating now. I understand Round Up has a place, but I’m so glad they are reformulating it.

You'll be surprised how how fast the winds drop inland. As long as he doesn't park himself over you for days..Although I do understand the old neglected/dead tree issue.
