We've decided on Tennessee (Northeast, mountains hopefully) or New Hampshire for retirement. I feel like we'll never leave CT but who knows. The prospect of a little longer growing season in TN is nice, but a little cooler in NH is too. I'm so mixed so we'll probably stay put.
Henri is soaking us again. My chickens wish they were ducks, poor girls. Time to move on Henri!
I started “soaking” the cucumbers earlier and am outside with my chickens a bit earlier than usual. I’m using the waiting time to make sure the girls get some grass time today. We only had a shower or two earlier today but this early afternoon has been filled with tornado warnings. I’ll take my cue from the hens if I need to take cover. I don’t know about Tennessee @Sueby, but New Hampshire’s property taxes are really high. That’s to compensate for no state income tax.
Ohh, great idea Penny! I'm going to pull some lettuce & make a steak salad! I have flank steak marinating, fried up some shallots, a couple fresh brandywines, & have lots of bleu cheese...mmmm....
But they don't tax pensions or social security like CT does. & I'm willing to bet our property taxes way beat theirs! Gotta love CT, our mill rate is almost 40% (I think 37 or so).
