What did you do in the garden today?

Did they not light up so well? Morning up at 8 here to drizzle.

Not very much, no. I put them in the shade garden so they wouldn’t become brittle and break, but you might have better luck. I have other stuff that glows in my shade garden that does just fine so let me know how they work out for you.

Good morning gardeners. I took a quick tour through the garden yesterday. Saw a hummingbird at the aloe plants and the borage already has second leaves. I noticed one of the onions looks a bit crisp on the top so I may need to move it to where it gets more shade in late afternoon. One of the blueberries is going in the trash, it has little black spots on it and some of the leaves are dead and crisp. I don’t think it’s anything I’ve done, the other looks great. I’ll sanitize the bucket and use it for the apple tree when it gets here. All of the trees or bushes I have on order are sold out, but the shipping schedules say they should all ship in the next two months. The chaste trees seem to be quite happy in their location, both have lots of new growth. Today I’ll water while I work on organizing stuff for the yard sale next weekend for my mom. We have a 90% chance of rain on one day this week, but since I’m preparing for that we won’t get any.

Morning . I had 21 brrr . Anyone else buy from Etsy ? I have a few times this year . Good so far . You never know when it will come but always does in a week or so . Still waiting on my blackberry plants but I expect they will come this week . I find hard to find seeds or plants . Sometimes at better prices . The Chester blackberries are bare root and not tissue culture plugs for about the same price as plugs .

I ordered some lemon thyme from Etsy & it is very much not lemon! Disappointed there. But I ordered my egyptian walking onions from Etsy too & was happy. I've also gotten morning glory seeds. Everyone seems to always send extra seeds for stuff. I also got my egg holders from Etsy & love them. I wouldn't hesitate to order anything from Etsy.

I buy from Etsy all the time. You just have to be careful like anywhere else. Some of the sellers are, um, less than straight forward with the origins of their items. Read the reviews.

I used to have a shop there too, their wokeness and new charges, lack of adult content filters, and unequal advertising policies finally put me off and I left. It started as artists supporting artists, and turned into a money grab. BUT it's still the best place to find handmade items, or small hard to find vintage/antique things, in one place out there.

Which reminds me, I need to clean out my basement shop and pack things up or get rid of them.

Planting the onions this morning, and watering the seeding shed.

Work up this morning, a bit chilly, and went outside to feed the Chickens and seen a little hummingbird around the blueberry plants. Found it interesting and kind of cool. Hope he leaves enough for my bees to get to when they wake up!

Looked around the yard to 'confirm' all the stuff I need to be doing today, with the list I made yesterday late at night when I was changing the chicken water because they drank it dry.

It's really difficult to balance excitement, OH BOY, I get to work on the garden today !!! I got ALL THIS NEAT STUFF TO DO !!! with despair. Oh Boy...I got ALL this garden work to do today, and more after that... I wonder if I'll be able to tell that I did something today when im finally done and the sun is set.. and not just crawl back under the covers assume the fetal position and sleep the day away

Need to weed totes and get ALL my starters going that are pretty overdue.
Tomator, Carrots, Peppers, Onions, TahitianSquash, Seminole Pumpkin, Canteloupe, etc etc oh and the potatos STILL are not in the ground, it's almost too late for them.... sigh

This is NOT what I wanted to wake up to this morning. About 28° out may hit mid 30's today. Tomorrow will be in the teens. This is why I didn't put my cole crop and veggie seeds in my cobb job coldframe just yet. And yes I know my tomatoes are too leggy, need to rig the light differently.

I've purchased a vanilla orchid cutting off of Etsy. It is still alive as a green stick (no leaves) but I think that's more MY failure than the seller. These plants need a lot of humidity & indirect light. I'm planning on keeping it on a ledge in my walk-in shower but I have to get the shower remodeled first... Hope to do that this spring!

DD got 2 flat tires on her way to work this morning so my day is starting out topsy turvey and plans are changing. I still need to go hunt down my pallets and get started on the frames for the hoop house rebuild. Hope to accomplish that today.

I also scored 4 icing buckets from the local grocery bakery so I'll start waterglassing eggs this week!

Culled 5 roosters from my main coop. This cut the rooster population in half. The girls are happy and the run is so much more peaceful this morning but I suffer guilt trips for days afterwards. I hate culling season. I'm going to have to put a bunch of Silkies on Craigslist so I don't have to cull them. That's the worst!
