What did you do in the garden today?

For the record, I also bought a laminated leaflet from TSC this weekend that shows all the mushrooms in Arkansas. It provides pictures, habitats, and also tells you whether they are poisonous, edible but tasteless, or edible and highly prized delicacies. Quite interesting!
They have a bunch of those to choose from here too, near the register. I've eyeballed several. Have considered a few.

I’m no professional but foraging wild edibles/medicinals is another hobby of mine.. I’ve been eatin weeds and using medicinal shrooms, at a distance for 25 years and using regularly for 15 years.. I even sold my medicinal Herbs and wild foraged medicinal and culinary mushrooms.. Puffballs, Turkey Tail, Reishi, Chantrelles, Oysters, Hen of The Woods and Chicken of the woods to an herbalist in a nearby town/city.. she had connections to restaurants for my surplus shrooms and culinary herbs, she processed them into capsules and returned them to me as useable medicine for payment.. we did that for 2-3 years.. I have a couple dozen books some 25 years old.. it’s a good skill/knowledge to have.. another “tool” in my toolbox..

I didn't realize until after the fact that they charged $8.95 for that pamphlet. Crazy! But we do a lot of mushroom hunting for morels already. I see other fungi but never know if it's edible or not. This at least gives me some confidence in what I'm looking at...

We used to have a family tradition to go up to Manistee national forest every year to look for morels. I've been looking for morels in Arkansas for 20 years and never found one even though we know they are here... I swear before my creator I'll find one before I die! 😂 Found lots of other mushrooms but never knew if they were good ones or bad ones

Good morning gardeners. Not much happening in the garden today. It is laundry day. I am going to carve out a little time to clean up a bit in the yard later. The daffodils are still going strong and my peach tree and azalea are now blooming. A few of the tulips I planted last fall are starting to bloom. The blooms look like peonies when full. The apple trees are leafing out too. Despite the very cool temperatures, I've been picking an asparagus spear every other day now. I picked 3 yesterday and there are two to three that may be ready tomorrow. My asparagus bed is very small. The onion starts are doing really well. I watered the kale and carrot seeds I planted a little over a week ago. I'm hoping they sprout soon. Not much else to do until I get my seed potatoes from Jung. Have a great day all.

I found Morels growing along the fence line at the office last year. The neighbor has a large oak tree. Nobody wanted it and I'm not a mushroom fan.

That’s really maddening! Years ago I worked at a photo lab on an ultra early shift. I’d leave the plant in brilliant sunshine and by the time I got home the afternoon thunderstorms would start. :rant So how is your poor cat?
Not good news for the kitty, sadly. She has a genetic condition where her immune system attacks her teeth/gums. So she is getting a full mouth extraction this week. And then her blood test came back, and she has kidney disease now too. She is 11, so in my opinion, has many more years to live. Hopefully this surgery helps her fell a little better.

sorry for your kitty. hope the extractions go well and she starts to perk up a bit.

no work in the garden today, I am at a holding point until the rest of my plants/trees come. I am not buying anything else. DH asked me where I planted all the melons and squash the other day, I just shrugged (ha I hid them around trees, in garden beds, etc around the yard)!
