What did you do in the garden today?

In my garden I have tomatoes that are finally flowering, since it's been pretty cold up by me, it's taken everything a little longer to start growing. I have corn, two rows, that are there finally getting tall. I have green sweet peppers, and watermelons and strawberries. I'm new here, so still working on how to post pictures but when I find out how I will. I have cucumbers for the second year, as I did great last year, but I'm keeping them in my greenhouse cause they love the heat. They are also flowering. Every Saturday I pull weeds if need be, and then I water if needed. it's a lot of work, but also great to have.

You have to have a certain number of posts before you can post pics. Some one else said it's 10. So post away. Looking forward to those pics.

Today I am making sauce with most everything from the garden.

And the hoppers are still eating my garden!

Can you see the tiny little bee on this sunflower? These are the only bees I have.

Very nice! Congrats! My kiddie pool plants are coming along, but I'm a long way from making sauce. They'll get there!

Cleaned the coop, puttered in the garden beds potting up baby perennials, pulling a few weeds, etc. I have one tiny baby Roma tomato and I saw a few baby green beans. Peas and cukes seem to be coming along. Sprayed the peppers, so maybe that'll help rid what's chewing them up! Not much, but it's encouraging.

Jap beetles eating the spuds and young apple trees, so put up a trap from last year's bait. Within a half hour had an inch of beetles in the bottom of the bag. Gave those to the flock and they were quickly turned into tomorrow's eggs and poop. Will likely trap more each day.

Dusted the taters with sulfur dust for the beetles and slugs. Also dusted the ground around the strawberries with sulfur for the tiny slugs that are eating the berries.

Planted more corn in the spaces where it failed to germinate last time when I planted it during cold weather. Also planted more watermelon, lettuce, spinach, carrots.

Suckered tomatoes and picked strawberries, wove the tomato vines through the cattle panels.

Since I'm stuck at home trying to recuperate from last weeks heart issues, I was puttering in the garden this morning. Thought I'd share some pics. The garden has done very well this year. Last year was a gardening nightmare. Super wet and cool start led to a diseased and bug infested summer that yielded a pitiful crop of pretty much everything in the garden. This year is much better.

We've fought squash bugs for the last few years but seems like we are ahead of the game this year. The squash and zucchini are about as pretty as we've ever had.









We've grown sunflowers for many years. All of these guys are volunteers that we transplanted into this one bed.





Watermelons for me...and the chickens...



Okra and beans in this bed.



Beans are apparently going to take over the world.



Heirloom tomatoes in this bed.



Hybrid tomatoes in this one.



Last of the onion crop that were in these beds with the sweet potatoes.



Cheryl's Zinnias are winning out over the crab grass.



Overall the garden is 100 times better this year than last!!

I am raking since it is a mess. I need to be careful around the chicken coop since the chickens don't like all the dust.
