What did you do in the garden today?

I take the skin off a few long egg plant and chop it into bit size pieces, and sprinkle garlic salt on it and drench it with olive oil and micro wave it for a 1 1/2 minutes. I use these semi cooked egg plant as a main topping for my cheese pizzas. The egg plant adsorbs the olive oil and gives it a wonderful taste.

Yum! That's sounds good! I think I'm going to blanch and freeze some of these too because I have a ton more coming in, lol. I'm not going to be able to keep up and they get soft really fast.

THEN you can plant THOSE early summer and get late tomatoes!
...there's such a thing as late tomatoes?

As a northerner, I thought tomatoes just produce until they die of cold? Do they stop when they get too old?

Should I move south?

We just plant a second round if we want "late" tomatoes here in the south, lol.

Determinate varieties will grow, set a bunch of fruit and then die.
Indeterminate varieties will produce over a longer period.

I'm from central Indiana....I live now in north Alabama..whew! I can grow everything haha! I was flabbergasted when I started a veggie garden here.

Not a lot happening today, rain is out of the forecast except for maybe a few pop up showers. Been working on the coop run. The girls go out tomorrow after I put the finishing touches on it. (1” chicken wire at the base of the run, on top of the 2x4 welded wire). They are ready to roll!

Have one squash plant that always wilts when it gets sun. Any ideas? It’s been outside for over a month. Tomato’s are doing great. Same with corn, beans. Waiting on the greens to pop up. Maybe in a few days. All the best.

That's actually normal if they perk up again in the evening. It's the plants way of protecting itself from the heat.

See so far our plants are well growing like weeds.

Have you ever tried them as chips? We thin slice them, brush them with olive oil, dust them with a little seasoning and pop them into the dehydrater when we have too many to eat fresh. Can eat them as chips or use them to cook with...like using sundried tomatoes.
