What did you do in the garden today?

Heard a cucumber recipe on Scottish Radio at 2am, might try it on DH.
Dice or slice thinly mostly peeled cukes.
Add salt and stir and let set for 30min-hour
Drain and quick rinse and drain.
Marinate/mix 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar
1 T light soy
1T dark soy sauce
chili seeds
1T rice wine vinegar
minced garlic clove
I THINK that was all the ingredients, my headset was dying, serve cold from the icebox.

I'll see if I can find it to check it.

Woo what a day. Started out wonderful with lots of rain. I was worried it was going swampy &painfully hot.... nope. There is a heat advisory in effect but there is an almost autumn like breeze and we were able to be outside almost all day. Rare blessing indeed! My tomatoes are FINALLY thinking about being more than just foliage. The flowers all have little maters and aren't just falling off anymore. I learned this was probably my fault as they needed food and water. Picked another zucchini and I have a whole wazoo of blueberries lol

Got the cornish x birds butchered on Sat, rabbits butchered on Sun, broke down and frooze one cooler of birds yesterday in between Drs appt, treating a sick pig. And absolutely Worrying over my 90yr old grandma getting sent to the hospital. Only Vertigo. Thankfully. Back to work today. Have one more cooler of birds to process tomorrow. Have MORE chicks coming tomorrow.
Did do a quick walk through of the garden, then turned right around and grabbed my phone, a bowl, and my bug squishing gloves.

Raspberries are coming in strong. There are A Lot hidden in those bushes.

Tomatoes need taller stakes and another row of weave put in.

Cabbage loppers have made an appearence.😠 Hence the squishing gloves.
They've made attempts at the 2 broccoli that recovered from the woodchuck.

Glad to hear GMa is ok.
Protip on the luffa, plant your seed starts in composting pots, that way the roots are not disturbed whne transplanted.
Thanks.
It was mostly because I started them with my tomatoes. By time the weather was nice enough for them to go outside the Luffa were 3-4 months old. :idunno

I'm very picky when it comes to sweetener with veggies, but I have to admit this sounds very tempting & I think I'd really like it! If anyone tries it, please let me know. I have everything except the 2nd soy sauce, I might have to try it with just the regular one I have. Thanks for posting!

I found a hornworm & threw it to the chickens. Then the chase ensued!

The beans need shade cloth but I'm not sure I have it in me, it's too hot & I'm not sure I care, lol. One of the 3 brandywine tomatoes is not a brandywine. It looks like a paste tomato maybe. It's always been a little smaller & the branches lower. I should take a pic & post it. The fruit has like a teardrop bottom - basically the opposite of a brandywine. :gig
