What did you do in the garden today?

An aquaintance dropped off a ton of persimmons yesterday, very ripe, Id say over ripe but well, what do I know :( so spent the morning making persimmon ice cream from the good parts I could cut out of them, sieve out of them.

All the skins and goopy and parts that were not able to be used in the ice cream, i decided to try something and just mixed it in with the chicken feed, making a big gooey blob of feed / persimmon goop for their breakfast. What they don't eat I figure ill throw into the compost, it should work well, the worms will love it that's for sure.

in the process of trying to put a bunch of little cups of ice cream into the freezer, finally pulled my head out of my ass and realized THAT freezer needs a serious cleaning out / re arranging. so I think I am going to all next week, plan meals with previously frozen stuff, then what I don't eat on the spot, lll freeze dry and keep for future years.

As you go through life, you don't clean and get rid of crap, you just re arrange it and make it so you can store it for longer terms. WHEN you become very good at it, you will have succeeded in keeping ALL of your crap and making your kids clean it up when you die. Get back at them for all those years you had to clean up after them !! :D :P

Morning! Cold and rainy here today. Looks like we will have 50s/60s for the next few days and then by Friday we are at highs in the 20s for as far out as they are predicting.

I put up plastic on 2 of my raised garden beds on the deck this fall to see how long into the winter I can keep things growing. Yesterday I picked carrots and watered lettuce, in NOVEMBER in WI ;)

DH had an ophthalmologist appointment today. Everything looks good, said the Doc. Good news. I had my appointment last July, essentially the same news. Finally took the prescription to get glasses made. A biiiiiit of sticker shock. Because of course I liked the really (REALLY) expensive frames best. But I'll have them for a long time, and use them for future lenses, so they price out ok when you think of it that way.

We're going to get some wind tomorrow, and periods of rain, so it's going to be an indoor project day, I think. We have some piles/rows of leaves to get moved, but they can wait. I'm just hoping that they don't blow back onto the yard.
Have you tried the online places? I got mine through Zenni and am very happy with the whole experience and def the price.

new windmill bearing didn't fit.
ARGH.
So she's tied and locked down again. Days it's warm enough and not windy are getting scarce.
If you still have the old bearing you could take it to a bearing place . They will measure it to get a match . I have done this a few times . I even had one that was metric on one race and standard on the other . Any larger town - city should have a bearing supplier .

Agree, if you have a simple prescription and know whether or not you have a standard PD or not.
If you have anything more complicated, online fillers aren't my go to. PLUS you still may need to go to a local shop to have them adjusted for your nose and ears and some local shops won't touch outside material, and certainly won't guarantee them if they break them.

Ah. Good to know. I havent really had an issue so far except for scratched lenses when the dog somehow stepped on mine. Not sure it can get fixed and too busy to try just yet and i can still see.

Larger town......ya, about that, you'd think so, but no.
We have. We know WHAT bearing we need, but no one carries the heavier load and rpm.
They say they can order it for quadruple the price and take weeks to do so.
The old bearing are totally blown, so we had to work on finding one the fit as the shaft and axle wouldn't allow for calipers. OH and it's 20 feet up AND me on the ladder, there's only so many free hands. LOL.
But thanks for the thought.
I need to find the clean spare of the one we just blew and double check both the ID and OD.
I'm just so tired of this project.
