What did you do in the garden today?

I've never tried to put it in a planter. I've only ever sowed or direct planted it in the ground.
I have a 2 year old lavender plant growing in a 5 gallon wicking bucket. I have been watering it through a one inch pvc reservoir pipe. I put a TBS of a water soluble fertilizer in the reservoir pipe once a month. It is made for vegetative growth, It has a high nitrogen ratio. I will switch to Bloom in the spring.

I started putting water in my roasting pan and refill it once during the cooking cycle. The water is almost gone when I refill it, so I still get the intense flavor when I make my gravy at the end. I have been using a can of mushrooms and about 6 TBS of flour to thicken 2 plus cups of gravy. I skim the fat off the liquid in the dripping pan and mix some of it with the flour before adding in the remaining liquid. I am roasting a slab of pork ribs for dinner tonight, and I thought I share this because I haven't been making gravy in the first half of my life. I use the gravy for my rice or mash potato and mix vegetables, and eat the golden colored ribs or chicken as is..............

I was scanning Etsy this morning (got a Christmas gift that's missing...grrrr) and came across these garden markers. I thought this was a pretty cool idea! I have a Dremel kit so I wonder if I could do this myself? I can easily pick up old silverware at one of the 10 million flea markets around here.

My friend made me some of these! She used a tap and die set I believe.

Hubs made me some out of a bunch of old knives many moons ago, but these are fancier.

I just bought a packet of Burpee Giant Hybrid and Mortgage Lifter tomato seeds and some 5 gallon 6 inch net pot lids and 20lbs of clay pebbles from Amazon. I'll grow six tomato plants using the hydroponic 5 gallon Kratky method and 6 in 15 gallon fabric bags for comparison. This is my next experimental adventure.

5 gallons of drinking water put up for us
10 gallons of water for flushing
if we loose power we have no water
Same here. We have a generator (filled and on the porch now), so we can get water. I do have about 10 gallons of drinking water in the basement. I also have some labeled "toilet water haha."

I hope they are overselling this storm, but I bet they aren't.

Be safe everyone!

I was reading today that the north plains will be around 70 below zero! My prayers go out to everyone dealing with that giant yuck... Hoping we don't get a slew of threads for birds with frostbite (or worse...)! I'm definitely concerned for mine and we are only dealing with 30 below. My birds will be too dumb to stay inside....Just watch and see. Ugh.
