What did you do in the garden today?

Just fertilized and watered the vegetables outside. The melons didn’t grow since I transferred them into the soil. It’s been too long for a mere shock, I might have to try and grow new ones. When they were still in the tray, there was a funky weather, hopefully that made them into weak plants and not some sort of virus.
My parsley doesn’t sprout in the soil, so I will try sowing it in paper towels, if it won’t grow, I will tell my boss we have a problem with our product.

Today, I got to taste my first Super Sweet 100 and I was not impressed. The skin is kind of hard, I had to spit it out, my local cherry tomatoes taste better. The taste is over rated, but I think it got its name for the long fruit clusters, to me it taste like a regular cherry tomato with hard skin. Its not super sweet..........................its misleading.
First harvest is not an indication with tomatoes. Wait until third harvest (from third clutch of fruit) before sentencing them for the guiliotine (spelling?)

It's been my personal experience that some of the disease resistant hybrids don't seem to have as good a flavor as the heirloom varieties.

We had a small window today to get stuff planted before some nasty storms came through. I got lots of herbs planted today - oregano, thyme, pineapple sage, basil, chamomile, and more. DH was kind enough to brave the unseasonably hot weather to dig out holes for the 2x2 posts I needed in the ground for the vertical gardening experiment for the zucchini and yellow squash... So I got those all in the ground today too. Lastly, I planted a handful of Marigolds. Still have lots more to do but I'm slowly catching up.
Curious what your plan is with vertical squash, mind sharing? I grew vertical last year with bush squash & it worked out great though it was a bit tough to manage on a cattle panel hoop. I’d be interested in something easier to manage.

Good morning gardeners. I got some more logs cut yesterday. I had to stop because the chain got pinched and that took awhile to retrieve. DD planted her purple fingerling potatoes. I have two large containers I can put a few more fingerlings in there, but that's for another day. I watered everything because I wasn't sure if the scattered showers would actually materialize. I also pounded a T post into the south corner of my property. I was pleasantly surprised to see the surveyors "pin" hadn't been crushed by the heavy tree removing equipment. I can measure from that one to hopefully find the pin on the north corner. I'm resting a little today, no garden work planned. Tomorrow, weather permitting I can get working on expanding the asparagus bed and creating another bed to plant the eggplants and black beans. This means moving the back end of the big garden fence and extending on the property line. Hopefully I can get most of this done in one day. Fingers crossed. The weather is pleasantly cooler now. We had a light, misty rain this morning. Sorry, but 70's and 80's was way too much for this tiome of year here. I prefer to have time to adjust to the warmer temperatures. We are just now getting leaves on the trees, so hopefully there will be some shade the next time the thermometer gets crazy.

Rainy day with slowly falling temps. Wind advisory 41 now and going lower. BIG change from 80.
Same here, but a little warmer at 64. We'll be in the low 30s tonight. 80 yesterday afternoon, 30s tonight. Raining right now, so a good day to stay inside and get indoor stuff done. Or take a nap.

I replanted lots of my tomatoes that didn't sprout. Probably some of them I just wasn't patient enough... At least the soil in the pots was plenty warm. :)

I plan to dig up all the "missed" onions from last season that are growing in the garden. The way they're talking about the weather -- snow tomorrow?!?-- it won't be for a few days.

So far, all I've planted in the garden is potatoes. I should have gotten some greens in, but had other, more pressing projects. And sometimes, when DH offers to help, I have to rearrange my plans to take advantage of his schedule. But that got the fence in for the grapes, so I'm not complaining. :)
