What did you do in the garden today?

Yes, they are phasing out that color. I bought that color, back in the spring, for my son and DIL.
They run sales on occasion. The biggest is their mother's day sale. They just ran a special on plant supports, so I got 3 more. I had cucumbers in one greenstalk, and bush beans (that do lop over) in another, and the supports worked well.
I love that I can plant them up on my deck, and eliminate the risk of many pest concerns. They're easy to water, and the produce stays very clean. Perfect for my lettuces.

I am so excited about these! Thanks for the info. I have the perfect spot for them. My plan is for herbs, lettuce, strawberries & peppers for sure, those are the ones I can't bend to get to. Though I don't think the strawberries will survive the winter in them here. 🤔

Same here. I have no basement, our water table is too high. I always struggle finding places for my canned goods & for preserving the harvest of squash, onions, garlic, etc.

My nieces wedding was last night, the weather was absolutely beautiful. I need to pick some beans & tomatoes but I'm in too much pain from last night. I wanted to make a zucchini cake too, but not sure that will happen.
 
I'm making some iris markers for rhizomes I planted new this year. I am splitting up the irises I inherited from my mom, and I got like 10 new reblooming kinds from Breck's and Shreiners. I 3d modeled these to be printed in white PLA, which I intend to paint and label like the respective color of blossom expected.

16 pounds of san marzano tomatoes. I used 10 of them to make chicken shahi korma... I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the rest yet.

These squash are in moschata group, same as butternut. So, they are less preferred by SVB. So far, these plants are looking pretty good.

They have 3 recipes listed at bottom of seed description -I’m going to have to consider making them, if they look good. Looks like I’ll have enough squash to make a bunch -as long as they fully ripen.
Would love to know what you think when you try them. Less preferred by SVB is something I’m looking for.

I love it, Sarah. You know ~ I inherited a sedum from my grandma over 30 years ago. It's still here - and I think of her, every summer when it blossoms
 
Would love to know what you think when you try them. Less preferred by SVB is something I’m looking for.
So, you can try planting a trap crop. This gets most/all SVB to attack that plant. The group they love includes Hubbard squash, the C. maxima group.

The C. moschata group is less preferred. This group includes butterNUT squash that we all know and love (whereas butterCUP squash is in the C. maxima group).

When I plant only C. moschata, the SVB will attack it. It was a very sad year when I realized this, just learning about SVB, squash varieties, etc.

When I plant both types, I focus on short season C. maxima to try to get some before SVB makes an impact. I leave the plants in to allow the SVB to attack them. You can stab the irritating little caterpillars in the stem, before they leave to pupate in the ground.

One year we covered the susceptible squash. It worked fine for the summer squash, but was a bit of a pain. In your climate, it might make them just a little hotter, even though bug netting is pretty airy, still may trap some heat, or hinder airflow a little bit. That same year, I planted butterCUP along with butterNUT, and the entire row of butterCUP was impacted, but nothing else was…that was when I looked it up and realized butterCUP was an SVB preferred plant, and not related to butterNUT, even though seed packets describe the flesh as if they are the same- and most seed packets don’t list the genus/species making it harder to make sure you know what you have.

So, this year, I’m sure I have SVB pupating in the soil. So, I’ll till the area a few times -hopefully exposing the irritating bugs to the elements. I’ll plant squash in a different area next year also. This year they were planted in the same area as last year, so I really need to plant them elsewhere next year.

Monstera Deliciosa (Im sure they changed the name, or it is called differently in other countries... or whoever told me had it wrong). When ripe, those little tesselating segments come away and you're good to go. Consider shakes made with these.. hmm "monster shakes?" Nah. Too Halloween).

A big tomato! 2 lbs 6 ounces. It is sitting in a regular frisbee - for size comparison.

It is either a Burpee Supersteak or a Burpee Big Daddy -they are right next to each other and I’m not 100% which plant I picked it off. Probably the biggest, non-rotted, non-insect impacted tomato I’ve ever grown!

Not sure what the other, smaller tomato is- could be a Celebrity tomato, but seems a bit large for one.
 
I have a couple gardenias too. They smell so good!
If you want more plants, these seem to root easy from cuttings in soil. I've had good luck and gave a few started plants away.
I'm jealous. My employer bought me some gardenias in a planter when my mom died in May. I was dealing with a lot of stuff and they didn't get watered. Died... 😢
