What did you do in the garden today?

I have EmergenC on hand and started taking it when my daughter was exposed but that didn’t stop it. Also increased my vitamin D intake. Could be why I have pretty mild symptoms. Our Walmart carries EmergenC, I don’t like the fizzy drink but take the gummies instead.
Take vitamin K with vitamin D, it boosts absorption. My D levels more than doubled after 2 weeks of taking K.

Along this topic... I had several jars of blackberry jelly from 2020 that never set up properly. It's all basically syrup. Someone told me previously to use it on ice cream but that will honestly never happen here. I will probably end up just dumping it....
Had the same problem once. Blackberry syrup really is very good on ice cream we discovered.

We rarely use ice cream toppings. However, we discovered the basically syrup versions of jam still taste good as jam. Only sometimes does it work well for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches taken in the morning for lunches but it usually works well for toast. For lunches, it had to be some or all of: not tooooo thin, keep the sandwich flat, triple decker it with the jam sides against the inner slice of bread, use certain kinds of bread - just a touch stale also helps.

Good idea to keep some zinc on hand, as well.

Sigh. The canning peaches are ripe. This is very good news but they won't wait. I'm trying to be realistic about how many I should try to do considering there are still tomatoes to do. Apples and grapes.

Today's me is very happy that July me stuck with trying again and again to get the beans, peas, carrots going. The survivors are all looking so fresh and happy now when others are exhausted.

I took the easy way out at preserving zucchini squash for the winter. I just washed them and stuffed them whole into gallon freezer bags. They're in the fridge for the night to get chilled down, then I'll put them in the freezer tomorrow.

I know the enzymes will make them less than perfect, but they'll still be good cooked down into a pot of cooked veggies when it's snowing outside. I have 13 squash in 5 gallon bags, so that should be enough. Time to start freezing tomatoes next.

They were all pretty good sized, so they'll have a lot of seeds in them, but in my opinion the seeds probably contain a lot of nutrients that aren't in the squash flesh.
