What did you do in the garden today?

Colder weather feels like winter. Left hip has been bothering me for some time. Time to get it checked out. Long process due to insurance. See primary care doctor Friday then referral to Ortho doctor. Likely a long wait. I fear it may lead to surgery. :(
I hope you feel better Jerry, and that it’s NOT a slow process.

For what it’s worth, my father in law had hip surgery and he gets around much better. He doesn’t even use a cane and he’s 87.

If you need a total hip replacement let me assure you, it's not usually a bad thing. I could barely walk when I had my THR and was back to work in 7 weeks. Knee replacements are much harder.

I had my right knee replaced 2 years ago. For me it was a brutal process. It was 6 months before I thought it was worth it. At 8 weeks postop I told the PT that I was no better than the day before surgery.

Well, this doesn't sound very encouraging. Not for me, for my neighbor. She was going to have it done last Tuesday, then it got bumped to early January. Now I'm wondering if that'll happen, as she had a heart attack last Wednesday.

We talked with her husband this morning. All the "heart stuff tubes" are out, but she had difficulty breathing last night. :fl :fl

My right knee has been in pretty bad shape for the last few years. After several cortisone injections, a couple times a year, I had a series of three hyaluronic acid gel injections into my knee last December. That did a great job at relieving the pain, and the knee still feels pretty good a year later. No cortisone injections this year, either.

I know a knee replacement is in the future for me, but I'm doing all I can to delay the operation. I'll put it off for as long as I can function well enough to get things done without intolerable pain.
