What did you do in the garden today?

Very grumpy hubby due to no snow. And not really any in the forecast, either. Maybe a mix of precipitation, but he wants inches of snow.

Caulking in the bathroom is done and curing.
I'll work on baseboards tomorrow.

Looking for opinions on varieties of collards. Got a favorite kind?

Also, any info about growing them. I'll bet they like nitrogen, since they're a green. Just so happens... I have some chicken poop that will be ready for them.

When it rains, it pours...

I lost one of our horses last week, just a few days before Christmas.

Today, we had another horse come down sick. She stays at a training barn where my daughter works part time. They thought she was colicking. She wasn't responding to treatment so they took her to the emergency vet. They tried to tube her nose and she started bleeding and won't stop... She has a small impaction and fore & hind ulcers. They also found presence of coccidia infection...

I tried growing them once, but no one in my family like them. However, that was before You Tube recipes became available. I think liking them depends on the recipe and cook. I also want to try them again.

I absolutely love collard greens. They're especially good with crispy fried bacon.

According to Google they need calcium nitrate. The best kind is of the champion variety.

My daughter has raised this mare from a yearling... She's a basket case right now. The pictures below were the 2 of them just a few years ago... She's retired now and my daughter is training a new show horse but still loves on her baby every single day. I hope this has a positive outcome...
