What did you do in the garden today?

Try them with your tomatoes. I’ve successfully planted them among the tomatoes then, end of season I clean up tomatoes, pull carrots. They don’t like to dry out when young…at all. They seem to benefit from some shade, even a little. When not planted smong the tomatoes, we will plant them in the middle if a raised bed with beans or beets along the outside edges.
Thank you for the information. I planted some one year and got 3 about 2 inches tall was probably the biggest one.

I planted turnips and my mom told me that I left them in the ground too long but she can have the turnips and I get the greens. Although I did fry some with some potatoes and didn't even notice it. The turnips were really big.
Today's gardening, part 2:

Loosened up last year's tomato bed.

The carrot seeds were several years old, so I sowed them thickly. First three rows of Short N Sweet.

Then two rows of Little Finger ⬆️

And the last two rows of Nantes Half Long ⬆️
(that's the type I just harvested)

It's supposed to rain tonight, so I didn't water the bed. I did put row cover over it to keep the feral cats off.

I had thought about digging up a bucket of weeds for the chickens today. My neighbor got one of those external wood burners, and chose today to burn a lot of cardboard boxes. Every time she did, the west wind sent the smoke out over where my garden is. Thick enough that you couldn't see the end of the garden.

Sorry chickens, no weeds today.

Supposed to start warming up again tomorrow. Rain expected most of next week... So I'm going to get my 2 new trees (Granny Smith apple and a Dwarf Mulberry) in the ground. May try to plant my cauliflower and broccoli starts outside too... I haven't really hardened them off though. Think I can do that over a day and they'll be fine? Or will they need more than that? They are about 4" high now.
