What did you do in the garden today?

Yeah, i have a good friend who lost her husband, her mother, and her dogs are dying off. Personally, i lost my Dad, my Aunt and likely my dog very soon. I let my mother borrow my Yorkie because she fell in love with Twinkle when we lived together. So i will be down to one goofy Shepherd, which is really for DH and the cat with kittens, and the kittens will be going soon hopefully. You sure miss your close friends, no matter what species.

Thankfully we do not have the humidity here so heat is not as killer although I admit I do handle the higher temps anymore any better than cold these days
Our A/C messed up today. The electric contacts for the compressor welded together. I had to take the outside unit apart and file the contacts after prying them apart. The switch was full of ants! Got it all back together and it works like a charm! The humidity was violent... I was so wet that I couldn't turn the screwdriver without drying my hands.
Saved big bucks on having a tech come out.
Nothing from the garden to report today except last night's 1.5 " of rain washed more soil away. erosion is bad. So much mud and nastiness. At least no fire hazard warnings this year.

Haha, igor, unfortunately it had to be done all at once so there weren't a lot of options. My sister has RA so if I'm not there to help her it won't happen. She can lift/carry and is strong but anything that requires her hand to grip tightly or frequently is very hard for her. Knot tying, scissor use, etc. is hard for her to do and yesterday was the only day I had available. Now I am very sore today. My back hurts especially. There was a lot of bending down happening. :( It kinda sucks because I do still have stuff to get done today. Guess that's what they made Advil for, amirite?

"I can't even get enough tomatoes from my 6 plants to make 1 batch of pasta sauce."
Karener, that might be because of the kind of tomatoes you're growing. Have you looked into that? What kind of tomatoes are you growing?
I grow plumb toms for sauce. They have a unique taste.:)

Good for you! The place we went to to buy our sheds had their a.c. out today as well. It was shot, a real old window unit.

Not garden related, but considering putting my 14 year old Papillon down. He has cataracts, bad teeth, vomiting lately, loose stools and last night i woke up and picked him up and he was having seizures. His quality of life is just declining. Don't like to see them suffer. Vet wants $60 to put him down. The one we had in TN was $20 for that. I think i will wait until husband leaves on his trip so i can cry if i feel like it.

I'm so sorry. :hugs

I hate making those decisions. Our JRT has issues, I think we are going to have to do the same by winter.

Cooked a 6 pound roast with potatoes, carrots, peppers, onions and garlic from the garden yesterday too....mine in the oven in a turkey roaster....shared with the extended family. Love the smell of a roast and veggies cooking.

Do tell about the fruit tree cuttings!! How did you propagate them?

I cut some branches off my plum, peach trees in June and nothing special I just stuck them in one of my grow bags in my wicking bed garden. All but one is growing like crazy! This is them when I first stuck them in the grow bag. I did not use any rooting hormone. But they were in constant damp peat mix. You can see the water in the bed.
I did take 4 other cuttings and bring them in the house and only one of those as taken root. So I guess the water is the key.
