What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I need to dig the remaining potatoes up today, pick what beans are ready. TS Debby will be here tomorrow afternoon through Saturday morning. I’m really hoping we don’t get any strong winds. They’re saying we should get 4 inches of rain and the ground is already near saturated. Fingers crossed we don’t lose power.

Froze corn yesterday, normally I freeze 8 to 10 dozen. Do to july 14 storm which laid it all down I froze 2 1/2 dozen. Today I will cut the corn off to let the pumpkins get more sun, 1 pumpkin is orange already. If you need to know I put pumpkins in the corn to keep the racoons out, they won't walk on the vines and since never had coon getting my corn.

Stay safe!

Thank you @CatInTheHenHouse. We’re pretty far inland so it shouldn’t be too bad. I mowed my front yard yesterday then took a weed whacker to my back yard. My wee beasties keep that so well fertilized the grass and weeds grow very fast. When it gets too tall for my electric mower I like to trim it up before mowing. I dug up the last of DD’s purple fingerling potatoes. After I finish up with the chickens I’ll dig up the white potatoes. I’m waiting until the storm passes before I plant anything.

I'm having carpal surgery tomorrow
Good luck today!

Morning all. With all the rain I had to trim looooots of powdery mildew from the squash plants. Hoping the spaghetti squash plant will hang on for the fruit to fully ripen.

Been harvesting lots of tomatoes, they're ripening now but not really producing anymore with the humidity/wet weather.

My sick bird pulled thru, I saw some new feathers on her face so she may just have been feeling crappy molting & stopping laying. She's back to eating & drinking & looking normal.

@Acre4Me those peaches are beautiful!

Interesting. I only grew corns with 3 sisters method once, and coons ate all the corns with bean and pumpkin vines around them. I guess raccoons are different. The only way I can keep coons out of my garden is having hot wires around it.

Here either! I was going to keep the dryer, but it's 11 years old and starting to take longer to dry clothes, even though it's clean as if it were new. I'll donate it.
And the bases I'll save for my son if he wants them later. They cost me $500 4 years ago, and NOW they're $800!
It's crazy how much prices have gone up.

My washing machine is 33 years old. I have had to fix it one time so far. The agitator has a plastic piece that engages the gear on the motor and it wore out. The replacement part was 4 dollars. It took me maybe an hour to complete the repair. The motor was heavy and the rubber sound dampening feet kept getting caught, so it took me extra time to get lined back up in it's mounting bracket.

I have a Maytag upright as a backup that's now been sitting in it's box for 2 years taking up room in the garage. My DH bought it for a really good price from Costco during an appliance bundle sale. When he did, it got me my upright freezer in the garage, and my dishwasher. Both of which I love. By bundling, the washer was pretty much free anyway, and still a great price for the other two appliances that I do use.

Picked and obscene number of cukes I literally can't make anymore pickles we are out of room in the cupboard so they're going to the road for free 🙃 my tomato plants are so filled with fruit they are falling over even with being staked but nothing is turning even a tint of red yet
