What did you do in the garden today?

I have the app but don't use it. The "attach files" button doesn't work.

I just have a Chrome tab open with this thread open 24/7. 😁

On a side note, my marigolds are starting to sprout! I saw three of them this evening! Yay!!!
There's a BYC app?

I just have the website open on my browser. I use the Brave browser and have no problems with the site on my phone (Samsung/Android).

I had a bit of sticker shock when I got chicks on Saturday. $7.99/ea for the Speckled Sussex. $9.99/ea for the Welbar and Prairie Bluebell. For that price, if I have a rooster in the mix I'll be a little annoyed. Between that and waiting in line for over an hour and a half... I'm very glad I have them though! Time to expand the chicken coop! 😁
Our feed store is charging $7.99 for production breeds (RIR, Orpingtons, Ideal, etc) and $8.99 - $9.99 for "designer" breeds like Marans, Cream Legbar, etc... I refuse to pay those prices so I'm hatching my own chicks instead.

EXACTLY! The only breed they sell around here (the stores share their list of future shipments if you ask) are brahmas, my favorites. I COULD wait til fall, but don't want to.
I like to get the chicks out free-ranging, before I lock them in with insane hens for the winter.
$6 each is being on the LOW side. and I don't want to wait for hours.
My roos are sweet, and so are the hens. At least I KNOW what kind of crazy I'm getting into with this bunch.
I'd like 7 girls and 1 boy in the end so I'll put down 12 and hope for the best.

And I swear the quality of the birds are getting worse and worse. The Dominique's I got three years ago ALL had repetitive health problems. I'm hearing of birds with egg and digestive problems from last two years from neighbors. Enough is enough.

Got my 2nd new asparagus bed completed today...

Repotted 2 smaller pineapple plants into 5 gallon buckets. I did see that the temps are going to drop into the upper 30s at night late this weekend. Wondering if these pineapple will be okay??? They are enclosed in a plastic greenhouse tent so it might be a little warmer but not much. 🤔

I jokingly mentioned incubating and selling my chicks at the feed store and the checkout girl was like "you should! You'd make a killing based upon our demand."

I'm sure I would... But I'm also waiting for all those people to figure out that OWNING chickens is a lot more expensive than buying eggs at the store. Even with the current crazy prices (which are coming down...). I expect those unwanted chickens to go on Facebook marketplace rather cheap by the end of summer... 😂

All of this.

The people I heard in line that wanted to get "one or two" I had to stop myself from having a parking lot chicken raising class.

And I totally agree with the quality of chick going down. It's a lot.

These are my pets. They make butt fruit as a bonus. 🤣 They are spoiled.

Speaking of hatching chicks, I ended up with 7 as a final tally. I set 14 eggs. Four were not fertilized and 3 were quitters.

I'm actually sad about the ones not fertilized... 3 of those came from my Silkies. I got rid of nearly all of my Silkies about 2 years ago. I kept one purebred pullet and one Silkie cross. Since they are both now over 2 years old, I wanted to try to hatch some of their eggs... Given that nearly all of my roosters are enormous (and NOT Silkies), I wondered if they would even try to breed with my Silkies but I saw one of them nearly squishing one of the poor girls recently so clearly they are trying.
