What did you do in the garden today?

Started more seeds indoors. Grafted some grape vines. Using our native summer grape as rootstock and concord grafted to them. Just practice for when I try table grapes on them. I have poor luck with table grapes here. I will buy some as soon as they appear in the garden centers. I hope native roots will help me grow some.

I have seeds sprouting indoors.Six kinds of tomato.broccoli and brussel sprouts. Beautiful day here today about 50 and sunny. I dug up some pear suckers and grafted them to bartlet pear. Put them in a tote and covered it with moist potting mix to heal. I have flowering pear growing wild on my place that I am using as rootstock. These grafted trees will grow in the garden for a year. Destined to go into a woodland food plot on my property. Deer / wildlife food. Total of 8 grafted. Wait and see how many take.
Oh amazing! Keep us posted as to the grafts! I so want to have an apple tree with all kinds of apples on it, I've got 4 rootstock trees that my mom grew from store-bought apples. I'm not sure she's got that they won't be much of anything, but I've been toying with the idea of grafting on to get edible apples for her.

How often do y'all plant? I'm going to try for three this year. Spring, summer and autumn.
Wow, I think I'm going to wait for the majority of my planting until May, if I do it before then, all the bugs have a huge buffet. Then lettuce and garlic in the fall.

Lol, it will be winter here before long. Autumn is upon us and at last the rains are here.
I'm glad you've got the rains!! I've heard it's been pretty nasty there with all the wildfires.

You are so very right... but then again, I don't do that very much, because I use very much mulch! (sorry, couldn't resist!)

No kids at home until tuesday. Yay! I will be cleaning up my garden, hauling to compost pile and getting ready to til. Have to clean the coop too, also going to the compost. Have to move some red raspberries, clear an area to expand the strawberry patch when theyre ready. And temporarily move my herbs so my bed can be expanded. Lots to do.

So far I've got taters, onions, and garlic planted. Waiting on the last of this crazy weather before I plant anything else but.. my fruit trees are blooming!! :)

I finally got garden two burned off. Hopefully tomorrow I will get the beans and squash and cucumbers transplanted into it. They are in 4" pots in the greenhouse and They have got to go into the ground asap!
