Today I shoveled 4 buckets' worth of compost and hauled it up to the green house to be used as potting soil next spring.

My gals have a nice, roomy coop and run, but I let them out everyday with supervised free range time also. I live in town, just a regular fenced backyard to run around in, but lots to get into to! I'm very blessed because in suburbia now a days no one and I mean no one comes out of their houses or opens their blinds. So I get a little bit of the country feel. My street is the last street until farm fields for miles so that does help.We have about a 1000 s.f. fenced yard for our chickens with an automatic door to the coop. They’re let out into the yard, about 1.25 acres, to free range in the evening for a couple of hours. Unlike your property we are not fenced in so we supervise their free range time, this is why we let them out in the evening. It’s much easier to let them corral themselves at bedtime rather than attempting to do it against their will during the day. Of course, me being me, after spending a small fortune for an automatic door (which I really like) I still close it manually because I just have to check to be sure everyone is ok and to do a head count. My evening head counts are usually done four or five times……..just to be sure.
That sounds great! One thing I have never grown is lemon grass... May need to go on the list for next year.I trimmed back the lemon grass today and cut up most of it to dry. Tried some as tea; I either need to use more leaves or mix it with something else as it wasn’t as strong as I’d like.I do have to remember to add some next time I make egg drop soup though. I suspect it will be amazing.
Sooooo, exactly who is this mystery cad that knocked the girls up? Skipped out? Did a hit and run maneuver? Left the remaining boy holding the bag?
there was a handsome guy that wasn't for sale, lol. This stray bunny is driving me crazy. She refuses to use a litter box and keeps flipping her water bowl. Grrrrrr... She definitely needs an outdoor pen. Since we also have a buck too... I'm thinking about breeding them for meat. I've been toying with the idea of building an 8 ft x 8 ft hoop house pen for the doe. I'll keep the buck inside for the time being. I just don't really want to spend a bunch of money on it before Christmas...I do have a lot of spare materials though so I might not have to...

Weather man said a few sprinkles in the morning its been raining all day. When I fead the girls I looked at how dead the garden looks ( mid 20s last couple nights), I now can dig the Gladiolas bulbs and about 20 feet of carrots.
I think.... Wire grass is the same thing as Bermuda grass? I have it out front and I've lost the edge of the concrete on my driveway... I tried to use a sharpened flat blade shovel to cut it.... Nope.So you are incredibly blessed. What an absolute horror this stuff is for gardeners.
