What did you do in the garden today?

Hubs got some dirt levelled for planting the grass and figured out how to (hopefully) keep Ms. Ruby in the yard, again. I've been working on organizing my garden supplies and keeping everything watered. Housework has been at the top of my lists lately :sick

I have coop maintenance and the patio needs to be swept tomorrow, waterers to scrub. Need to rake around the compost pile and water that.

My employer has a points for performance program and I found out today I got some extra for being a good worker bee. So I think I'm going to get another greenhouse and use one for bsfl farming and the other as intended.

If the crepe myrtles don't make it I'm putting in another Chilean Mesquite.

Nope. I just planted my last row Tues. Had to break through some crunchy frost to open the trench. I hope to get some leaves or wood chips over the bed before it freezes solid. If the ground is not frozen, the garlic can set some nice roots which will give it a head start for next season.
Ok!!!!

I finally got 36 of the spring bulbs planted! Only 3 more bags to go unless i buy more on sale!:gig
What kind of spring bulbs are you planting? I love all the spring flowers!

About five years ago, I planted daffodils and tulips here. None of the daffodils came up, but the tulips come up faithfully every spring. I miss having daffodils, though. If I would have been thinking this fall, I would have planted some. It's too late now, though, the ground is probably frozen.

Never too late. If you can get through the top inch or two, it shouldn't be frozen below. At least not here, yet! If you can get them in the ground, then put a good layer of mulch over them. The mulch will hold off the penetrating frost for a bit while they sink some roots.

Did you know that bulb plants can actually migrate down in the soil to a depth that suits them? They pull themselves down by their roots. I'm always amazed when I dig hyacinth bulbs. They always are deeper than I remember planting them.

I've planted bulbs in December before and they did fine. Last year the ground never froze here and I think you could have planted anytime.

The girls have contributed nicely to the family gathering tonight. 72 deviled eggs. A hint of Sriracha and home-made bread & butter pickles mixed in makes them irresistible! (IMHO)

I despise Deviled eggs :sick ... the smell , sight and even thought of them makes me ill ! NOT allowed to be made or brought into my house ! I'd rather run naked across the frozen tundra then look at one ! Matter of fact I may never come back to this site because the topic was brought up !!!!!!!!

IMHO a waste of a perfectly good egg
