What did you do in the garden today?

Planted winter squash, spinach, and Brussels sprouts today. May have jumped the gun, weather is calling for 36 degrees Wednesday night in West Michigan (zone 5). Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Found tons of little clear/white bugs on a couple of my jalapeño plants. I choose to plant my plants in buckets. So I immediately separated them from the rest. But I have no idea how to get rid of them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

sounds like white flies....you need some yellow ribbon and fly paper glue. they're attracted to the yellow ribbon and of course, get stuck. never found anything to combat them effectively other than that

I'm not so sure they're flies. They do not have wings. Look more like I'm not sure will post pictures .

Sprinkled some dry chicken manure, and then got a good rain to dilute/soak it in.
Found a few volunteer tomato seedlings and put them in line.
We've got tomatoes, peppers, squash, pumpkins, soybeans, Crowder peas, okra, cukes, and a little corn up so far.

I would take a guess that those may be aphids. If so, the correct course of action may also involve getting rid of ants. I've had good luck with rid-x in the garden, just the little domes that you can pick up from any grocery store.

For organic solutions, you might try a high pressure water stream on the aphids (if in fact it's aphids) and an application of neem oil for broad pest control.

Good luck!
