What did you do in the garden today?

I went out to the Bonnie Plants site and they said dry warm for 10 days, so I think our garage fits that bill as the water heaters and house boiler are in there and it's kinda toasty there at night. I planted a 9-pack of slips in a 4'x4'x4" bed. There was an olla in the middle of the bed to help keep things hydrated down under.

Hey folks, wanted to dip my toe back in the site. Missed you all. I had some family issues so pulled off the computer in July. LOTS of changes in my life. I gave away my chickens in June to prepare for my trip to Vancouver, WA to stay with oldest DD Jenny.
I got up here and loved it. Good thing I did. We got word six days later that beloved DD Aimee had ended her life. I'm so grateful that she got me safely away.
Soooo, one month later I'm doing fine. EXCEPT, no place for future chickens and we live on a hill
A very small yard area so I'll have to make do with containers for my veggies
They do have a 4' x 8' strawberry bed. I will love that

Food is cheaper here in the NW . Such a different world than Shreveport. Everybody is into recycling and organics. Love it, love it, love it. Glad to be back!!

Linda, so sorry to hear about the loss of Aimee. Glad you're happy where you are. You can do a lot to satisfy the gardening urge with containers. Check out hay bale or straw bale gardening, also. Any option for even a mini coop/tractor with a couple of hens, or even a few bantams?

Understand the feeling...been there. But I was fortunate to be able leave the Detroit area and move to a very rural setting.
Living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is allot like living in Canada.
Lots of good fishing and hunting around me.
Ice fishing is a matter of how, what and where. You really have to be where the fish are and give them what they want.
Then there are days when it's just frustrating. So I sit in my heated shack. Listening to the radio and eat snacks. And realized it's still better than being at work!!!!....really is kinda a passion you either love it or not..kinda like eating liver.....Phil

The UP. huh? I have heard it is one of the best places to gather those absolutely marvelous Morel mushrooms.

I talk to people about them in the south and they don't even know what they are. Come spring you couldn't keep me out of the woods.

Went fishing today and didn't catch much...a few bluegill, catfish, and some small stripe. Most were too small to keep.

New to the thread here... Well to day was the first heavy rains of this fall... I was devastated to see all the beautiful plump deep green fat one meter tall basil bushes sadly hanging down because of the weight of the water... It's not that cold yet and they are beginning to make flowers kernels which we pick and dry as a winter spice... And some of my flower plants are also hanging down.... But the rains were good for our citrus garden.... The rain cleaned them and freshen the trees up and ripen the fruits quickly... The clementine are already ripening and very tasty at this stage... Pomegranates still bear some late fruit... That's pretty much all what's going on today in our garden... Glad I found this thread! Had a lot of interesting stuff in spring and summer.

But instead, being the goodhearted soul that I am, I choose to be happy for you people that have things other than alligators.
