What did you do in the garden today?

I put in a lot of perennials, i have a huge flower bed inside the circle of our driveway.
I still have lots of bulbs that need planting. And bushes. But there is another Lowes with marked down plants, don't know if i can resist.

Most of the roses we brought from last house are gone. There are a few tough ones the deer haven’t completely destroyed.

Yeah, lots of roots but i am persevering. It will be our first winter here so i am hoping the plants overwinter here well. I am going to mix in a lot of sand and composted manure, and as much bunny poo as they make.

That’s what we finally did. Made mounds of compost on top.

It takes a pick in my entire yard to go below 8-10 inches deep. So tired of it!

Going to clean out 6 inches of delightful deep liter and put in new garden space. 2 coops worth. If I make it that far today.

I don’t think I’ve every gone below 10” myself. Only tried that deep dig thing once. Now I just mound the compost on top each year. Pine needles still doing well for weed control.

Caliche and clay with deceiving areas of sand. Makes cement darn near.
