What did you do in the garden today?

Here are my hanging peas....

In another few days I will make a shallow trench in the garden, carry the lengths of guttering out to it and slide/push them out of the guttering into the trench in one long row, gently firm them in and cover with a cloche.... that's the theory anyway. It has been cooking in the poly tunnel the past few days, but we are set to have a cooler wet spell again next week just when I want to get them out there.... typical!
Hanging peas! That's awesome! That might have solved a problem for me. It's been so windy, my peas won't climb their teepees.

Just curious but if you guys don’t use tomato cages how do you support your tomatoes? I really don’t like tomato cages because I’m having to constantly stake them because the weight of the tomatoes always take them down. I don’t have anymore welded wire fabric to make sturdier ones and I hate spending money. What do you guys use?

I support my tomatoes between 2 rows of cattle panel that are staked about 12 - 15" apart. The CP is indestructible, only comes down when I decide I want to take it down. I pound in T posts first, then zip tie the CP to the first row of posts, set my tomato plants, then add the second CP to the second row of posts. I raise the CP off the ground about 6 - 12" to allow easy cultivation under the CP and to allow extra height for the tomatoes to grow taller.

I potted up my yellow pear tomato and my tangerine dream pepper plant in large pots on the porch.

DH used the weed eater around my raised beds. Of course, while he was on a slaughter spree, he weed eated my blue butterfly bush I had out in the garden also. *sigh* I hope it comes back since he did leave some stems about 3" long. :hit

Oh no! I can relate, my son whacked down some things I'd planted around my lemon tree last year. I hope it makes it!

Grass frame was made out of pvc and stucco netting. I'll be planting grass this week but probably not today. Too many other things to get done. When this area is done we are going to use the frames in the dog yard and plant grass there in the fall.

Second pic is my new mask. Have to wear it when I clean out the coop or doing anything dusty in the yard, or if it's windy.
