What did you do in the garden today?

I didn't get the grass seed spread, but the bed is prepped and watered. Will try to get the seed done tomorrow before work. I watered today, dumped my 5 gallon buckets of kitchen waste in the composter and tore up some feed bags and threw those in with a little dirt from my current pile. The girls have been going crazy in said pile so next weekend we are making a barrier between it and the garden to keep the walkway clear. Made several mud puddles for the girls today too.

is it a gas mask type of affair ? how does that work I wear a ball cap outside if it is sunny to shield me from the sun in my eyes

I wear a boonie hat usually, sunglasses always, and often a dust mask, especially when I clean the coop or dig in the yard. Windy days too. The Vogmask is washable and lasts quite a while, plus has better filtration than the paper masks. It's cheaper for me this way. It has loops that tuck behind your ears, but you can buy an adjustable strap to attach to the ear loops and it'll go around your head like the paper ones.

I'm not quite sure. I do know that opposites attract. One day, I was out enjoying an early spring day with hubby. I watched him lean down, and pluck a crocus blossom out of the lawn. I thought, "How sweet! He's picking a flower." But he dropped the blossom in the grass then carefully rooted around the base of the plant to pluck all of the crocus leaves from among the grass blades. Seriously???????!!!!!! Sometimes, I just smack my head. Are they even the same species????
Men! I have read a lot about the health benefits of dandelions so i decided to pick some seeds to plant for the chickens. I took the fluffy white heads in the house to get a ziplock baggie to put the seeds in. Hubby saw me and wanted to know what the heck i was doing. Sigh. So we had a discussion about not letting weeds take root all over the place. Really? This from a person who just weed whacked the weeds in the dog yard. Because there is no grass and the weeds are getting tall. I figure any kind of green stuff i am not allergic to is better than bare dirt! We have so many trees there is not much growing under them except down by the river.
Any way, i put my seeds in the baggie. I fully intend to include dandelion greens in a salad one of these days. His obsessive compulsive traits are getting worse as he ages.

This is his latest wood pile....

It is a bit of a trip from VA. I doubt he would go for it. He is started on wood for next winter, which he usually piles under our huge deck. He must be stacking it there to age.
I haven't figured out yet what to build while he is on vacation this year. Maybe another hoop coop for some turkeys. I have a lead on some eggs.

Love a DanElian salad. The roots make it a fantastic tea too. I got my beneficial seeds and plants in the ground but before I got my tickweed into the garden my husband let the goats out and apparently it is a very tasty flower. So I guess I’ll be picking up more. I also would like to get some for her mother for the memorial garden she started for her after she passed. But I know it’s also very beneficial because when she picked a whole bunch for me for my wedding bouquet she got chased through the field by tons of bees. Also in my garden I got my new 25 x 12 section opened got one row of squash in one row of zucchini planted and four rows of sunflowers. I put in one row of garlic make another attempt even though I’ve never been able to accomplish garlic. Then I went and got the old half broken wooden ladder And some strong wooden limbs and started attempting to make a cantaloupe trellis

Got the grass planted and watered this morning. Watered the garden, there's a flower on the squash, the melons are beginning to vine and a few more sunflowers have popped up :woot
That’s the best feeling of the spring is to see that first bloom. Wow I was just able to start my squash plants where I live. What kind of melons?

Watermelon and cantaloup this year. The watermelon is an heirloom variety I haven't tried before. Sweet something.
