What did you do in the garden today?

Watered the grass today and went hunting for green eggs. I haven't had one from my EE in two weeks. I have no idea where she's hiding them
Watered the compost pile and then rinsed the puppy off, he loves the hose. Also managed to snag the eggs Ms. Broody was sitting on when she came out for breakfast.

Got over a quart of black rasperries off of my wild raspberry canes today!

My sister gave the canes to me from her back yard a bit under two years ago. They had been in deep shade, under several trees in forest-like conditions, and she just chopped them back each year because they were just thorny plants to her and she disliked them. Asked me if I wanted to dig them up cause she knew they were berry canes, so they came to live at our house.

Now they have self propagated to be in a patch about 8'x3'. Last year I didn't get more than a few before the birds ate them all but this year I netted most of them up and got most of them! This is only the first set that ripened, as well!

Carried some across the street to my sister who didn't want those nasty thorny plants in her back yard and she spoke very highly about how tasty they are. :p We ate the whole bowl together with her kid.

But that's OK, cause I have another whole bowl all to myself and my household. :) <3

Gawd, yes! Nasty. It does seem to lead to clean seeds, at least. So many ways to do it. My lemon boys are very productive. And I only got them because I was in full-on garden frenzy mode; didn't start them from seed. They're tasty, will be saving seed, I think. Also, my white eggplant is quite prolific--I'm getting five and six eggplants from each (not very big) plant. Impressed over here.

I'm jealous!! I planted 2 eggplants and they look terrible!! What's your secret??
I also planted a lemon boy tomato plant this year on impulse. Haven't gotten any produce from it yet, but it's growing.

The only 'secret' I can think of is that they're on the driveway in grow bags, so it's HOT. It might also be because of the variety. I have two listada di gandia plants in my raised beds and nothing from them so far.

Got my first ruby bell pepper, another few cukes and the first of the Thai birds' eyes. Still getting blackberries, but only a handful at a time. I love black raspberries CM--you scored on that one!

Just a few pics from the garden. The first 3 pics are of my squash bed. @deepbluesea seed swapped with me and gave me those. The herbs didn't survive germination, but these are looking pretty good so far. Vine borers seem to be no match for that rampicante variety. Also, a pic of my biggest cantaloupe and my biggest bell pepper.

I had a bunch of easter egger chicks hatch today under a broody. Not sure how many yet. I set 12, but a few were from the broody herself (who is an old bird and lays lopsided eggs) and a few got knocked out from under her for hours on more than one occasion. So only time will tell but there are 5 confirmed right now. :)

The zucchinis are starting to come in too! Yum! And the corn is juuuust starting to silk. I made a tasty pesto from garlic scapes, basil, and other herbs from my garden yesterday. Yum!

We have wild black raspberry as well, but only a few plants. We moved here in August, so I had no idea what kind of plants were growing. The black raspberry is mixed in with a blackberry patch, and it is completely overgrown. We are debating just mowing it down and trying to manage the plants as they come back up. We tried thinning it but it literally has canes three feet deep and in a big dip in the ground. To give you an idea, we didn't even know there was a dip in that area because the blackberries covered it.
