To wet here for gardening now (although lots I need to do to be fair). Are they Salvias in the first pic?

I collect from everyone I know so generally by Spring I have too many!@PTA Chicks Welcome to the gardening thread your seasons are different but darn great idea with the toilet paper rolls think if I start saving them now will have enough by our spring
brilliant idea - I think I'll try the same as I also have trouble with them!I always have terrible luck germinating carrots and beets and they don't do well in trays. What I do is cut toilet roll inners in half so they're short tubes then I put them in a container, fill with planting medium and plant my carrots and beets in them. That way I can manage them better, they germinate well and I can transplant them without worrying about root problems.
I plant out before they're very big so they've not reached the bottom of the roll. You can use whole rolls too fpr carrots instead of cutting them shorter. And plant the entire thing.brilliant idea - I think I'll try the same as I also have trouble with them!
