What did you do in the garden today?

You hang in there Penny.
You had mentioned neuropathy. I too had it both legs and something terrible in my feet
(From Injuries).
I had back surgery in 2016. The day I could feel my tile floor with my bare feet is something I will never forget.
So when you say your neuropathy is bad I understand. :hugs
Sorry for your troubles with vision. :hugs

Graves disease took the vision but I am well enough to get in trouble many worse off than I

Oh ya. The little green machine! I used to collect and restore machines. Mostly treadles, but I didnt limit myself.

Do you keep the new growth in darkness for a duration of time???
That is my understanding to get them to be red. My mom kept a poinsettia for a few years one time. It grew but stayed green only. I have a few in the house currently. Come springtime, I plant them in my flower beds. They grow all summer,(green). Come autumn, and they expire due to cold climate I'm in.

First: set your plants outside in their pots. But be careful they don't get too much sun. I think partial shade would work better especially in hotter climates. You may need to re-pot, but don't plant in the ground. Then bring them in before the night time temps drop beyond 45 - 50 degrees. They will thrive. Pointsettias are a tropical plant that originated from Mexico (I'm pretty sure that's where) and they prefer warmth. Second: In the past I have tried putting them in a dark place to get them to bloom. That never worked for me. What I discovered is they like a little longer "night time - natural dark" and bright short daytime light. They usually bloom starting in mid December. But all the off spring of my original plant bloom every year. Also, make sure the air around the is not too dry. They like a bit of humidity but don't like to be soggy. Good luck with your beauties.

Finished the bee swarm trap yesterday. I'm going to scent it up and loan it to a friend who will need it this spring sooner than I will late this summer.

Beekeeping supplies have been arriving in the post. Beekeeping suit, SO sexy! LOL.

Nothing in the garden this week. We're getting another storm Friday, and windchills will be -20 and worse. The real temp will be -10'F.

So tomorrow is all hands on deck (mine) cleaning the barn and closing it up for a blow, and catching the herd and putting their coats on. They'll be mad, and spitty, but they'll thank me later. The hens will get another layer pine fluff, and their windows shut.

*throws a snowball @penny*

Today I raked all the snow off the run. Shoveled my path. Picked up some cat food for my trap. Because I found tracks in my yard! :barnie
