yes. Hoop gardens are the plastic tunnels placed over a row or two of vegetable plants. I've thought about trying one on one of my raised beds and starting something like lettuce or chard real early. It would be nice to get some fresh homegrown lettuce as soon as possible. I might try some mesculin mix indoors and see if that helps. I still have squash and tomato sauce but only one more serving of green beans and my own produce is gone until the next harvest. I will plant peas in March but still a long way from harvest. I plan on putting in containers to increase my planting area so perhaps next year I'll have enough of my own veggies to last through the winter. At least there's eggs

Nice pics! Nice weather now, but very hot/humid in the summer? Pretty rooster! Never been to Hawaii (or related islands), but one day, I'll get there!
Stores just starting to bring in gardening stuff. Only these were there today, but had to buy. What better way to welcome in a snow storm and 6+ inches of snow plus wind, than to plant some strawberry seeds! Yes, its January, but if you look at the seed packet - the seeds sprout in 30-40 days! Strawberry seeds are notoriously hard to sprout, so it will be interesting to see if there is success. Also, I've had the seeds in the fridge for a couple of months as others who've grown the seeds say that chilling them for at least a month helps with germination. btw, it was my first order for Burpee seeds direct from Burpee...I was surprised that packaging was not as colorful as in the stores, but it doesn't really matter - I just want some good plants this year!

. I no longer like the summers where I live, I hide inside. If i go up the mountain or to the beach (ha ha) it is much nicer.I have been to Ohio twice. I thought it absolutely wonderful but don't think i have what it takes to make it through the winters. I also lived in colorado for a few years... I was not built for the snow. Too bad cuz parts of the mainland are nice. Are you on a big spot of land? What do you grow besides strawberries?

Glad you liked Ohio. I’m not from here and it’s a bit too cold and wet for me, but not terrible. I prefer a more semi-arid environment. My oldest currently lives in FL, and it is too warm for them, and they have stated they will likely end up in a place with 4 seasons, cold, and snow. Spouse loves cold too!
So far .25 inches of ICE! This is a piece off of the speedy chain from an orchard tree. Our powerlines are coated the same. Heavy, and now bouncing in strong winds.
Time for margaritas!!?
