What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday I watered the vegetable, herb and flower gardens. Finished the mowing at last. I had so much romaine lettuce, around 3 -4 lbs. I juiced it. I made V6 juice, it tastes a lot like V8 but it's really green. I still have 4 heads of romaine in the garden that have not bolted and a bunch more in my refrigerator. I planted some icicle radishes yesterday. I picked peas this morning. They are slowing down which is fine with me. I froze and bagged 2 pounds the other day and now I have another 1/2 pound in the refrigerator. I noticed the Roma tomatoes are starting to develop. I'm really pleased with how well the garden is doing so far this year. Have a great day everyone.

That is awesome! Our neighbors raise honeybees, but all theirs died this year, and they have no idea why. :(
We have a lot of bats here, and love to watch them at night. Last year I put hummingbird feeders out at the back and front, but we ended up taking them down because they fought so much! They are vicious little birds! One would sit on the feeder and attack others that came near. In the front, one would sit in a tree, then surprise attack any that tried to eat at the feeder. It would stun them, then our cat would grab them. So sad. I loved watching them eat, but they wouldn't play nice.

I had three feeders outside my kitchen window and had to move it because of “Hank” my neighbors cat. Moved the feeders to the tree by the run. Hank would lay on the tin roof of the run and grab the birds. He’d challenge my chickens or just lay under the tree. His owners told me to spray him with a hose. Like I’m standing there 24/7 with the hose :he
We live trapped him. Left him overnight (on purpose) then gave him a good soak down with the hose. He ran home and hasn’t been back.
We told his owners they said “Good”
We have a mean one every year too. Last year one figured out that our large windows kill. He’d pull up at the last second and save himself. So far this year I haven’t found any stunned or dead hummers.
There are some that will still come to the kitchen window to tell me a feeder is empty.
In the evening when all the males come to feed Wowzzza! The noise ...the drama ... I’m glad my tree has gotten bigger now I can sit under it without getting pooped on. Lol
Sorry about your neighbors bees almost sounds like some careless chemical spraying :hitall it takes is a breeze ya know?

Have figured out we are almost a full month behind on the growing season. This time last year I was canning pickles and relish. My cukes are only 6 inches tall at the moment. My pepper plants are small. Tomatoes are just now setting fruit, except for that 4th of july tomato. Strawberries are setting more fruit. I lost two black/red raspberry plants.

I have been busy today! We finally got a cloudy day, which makes the 90 degrees not feel so miserable. I have been wanting to give the chickens a "safe" place to run around during the day. We used to let them out to roam the yard, but they decided their favorite place was in the road in front of our house. It is a private road but people drive too fast and there is a curve right before our house.

So this is the solution.

The green "netting" hopefully blends in to the trees so the HOA doesn't throw a fit. You can't see it from the road anyway. It surrounds a group of trees where the coop is at. The kids have a hammock up in there (both are in it now).
:thumbsup How could everyone NOT be happy! Great picture love your Guard Dog awh...

Yes, hummy birds are mean little beasties. I don't care how cute they are! LOL.

In Ohio, we had two nests, one on each side of the house. HOLY MOLY did those two families fight. One day I was out staining the fence. I spent the whole day being bombarded by angry hummingbirds. Apparently I was in their zone. Their beaks are sharp, and when they smack you in the head, it feels like someone hitting you with a large stale marshmallow.

DIppy birds. I WAS THE ONE FEEDING YOU!
