What did you do in the garden today?

I'm sitting out on the deck having tea waiting for my last girl to get out of the nest box so I can let them out & I see a hawk. He is on the hunt this am - he went after a morning dove & missed, then sat right over my coop for 5 minutes. He then went after a crow & missed again. Then went after another crow & I haven't seen him since. I won't let them out to the big run (it's under bird netting via a 60 foot tunnel made from the green coated 2x3 fencing). Todd says I'm being paranoid & to let them out. I say no way! Lol. That hawk is hungry! What would you do? Keep them locked up in the small secure run with a roof, or is bird netting & a wire tunnel enough?

Keep them locked up.

Good Morning gardeners. We finally got that thunderstorm last night. I fell asleep during the news and woke up to thunder and lightning. I believe it rained for an hour or so. I know the garden really needed it. I picked what is likely the last 2 cucumbers of the season this morning. I also picked another bell pepper and a few more cherry tomatoes. My jalapeno plant is loaded with peppers again. I have enough cucumbers to make one more batch of pickles today. Hopefully I'll have enough tomatoes to can next weekend. I'm still looking forward to the green beans coming in. Enjoy your harvests and have a great day everyone.

Thats what I think! They seem a little shook up, all 4 are under the coop quiet now.

So is this a 'run, hawk!' call or a 'I'm clueless there is a hawk hunting over my house, but dang, look at that magnificent egg I just laid!' public announcement? Lol

It sounds a lot like I just laid a magnificent egg.

I would let them out. I think the netting will be enough of a deterrent.
