What did you do in the garden today?

OK. Two more pics. They do not do justice to the last 6 solid days of cutting and moving sod and digging dirt and piling dirt and moving dirt...But shows the channel we dug and the berm we created. Not a whole lot of elevation around here, so just gotta do what we can to garden more!! we decided to move two of the 16' beds to the really sunny corner of the yard, which happens to be on an elevated area.

Trial run of 6' of native aloes, yellow blossoms on tall stalks in early spring. I have been wanting to get the pups off the moma plant for a good long time.

Here she is after being de-pupped this afternoon, still a long way to go before this is thinned:

Looks great! I had 2 clumps just like that. We get a lot of hummingbirds when they bloom. I threw a ton in the compost pile and transplanted some. The latest move this past Spring may have been a little late so if they don't take I have another pot full I can put in.

Got out brussle sprouts that are coming back after we cut stalks covered as we are to have frost tonight jalapeno covered will go back in morning pack them with shavings for good measures remembered to take my mucinex tonight with dinner just set that time to do it

Just got finished working the last three days, and now I have four days off - whew!
I see everyone's been really busy, as usual. I haven't checked our gardens for the last three days, cause I leave when it's still dark out in the morning, and it's already getting dark out when I get home at night (very long work days). I'm planning to go check everything out today, if it ever stops raining.
We will probably run to Costco today (and maybe Aldi's, too) cause we need some groceries, and since it's been raining a lot, it's really too wet to do much outside, anyway. We got about 2.7" of rain last night alone. Good day for shopping!

Are you feeling any better, Penny1960? Hope so.

Good morning gardeners. Nothing going on in the garden today. I need to dash off to my Monday exercise class shortly. Today is the 1st anniversary of my retirement. Yay! It's been a great year. Thank you all for being a part of this journey. I am learning a lot from all of you and look forward to learning more and sharing. I got an email from the Old Farmer's Almanac about cover crops but I haven't had time to read the entire article yet. I think for my two herb garden beds I'll just cover with leaves and straw and hope the perennials survive the winter. Thank you for the pictures @Acre4Me. Living in Massachusetts it is really amazing to me to see so much flat land. Especially in the area I l live in. And thank you @WthrLady for letting me see how much work is involved with caring for Alpacas. More than I can undertake. I've just reached a point where chicken keeping is easier now and am considering adopting a dog in a few months. Baby steps, right? Have a great day everyone.

I have to share this pic with you guys; my friend sent it to me this morning.
OMG - that creature is pretty spectacular looking (and a little scary )! Where is it located?
Speaking of insects, the ladybugs are starting to come into the house, as they do every fall. I hate it! They get everywhere, and tonight I have had two of them divebomb me while I'm sitting here in my recliner. Occasionally they even bite. I don't know how they get inside, but I wish they would stay out.
So, Hubs and I have been working on our raised garden. It's a large rectangular bed with a 4'-5' opening where we are going to install a gate to keep the ladies out. I have been trying to figure out the perfect gate to put there, one that is unique and a bit fancy looking. A few weeks ago, I was googling DIY garden gates and came across gates made from metal headboards. They are really cute and so impressive looking. I looked on Craigslist for metal headboards, but all the nice ones were more than I wanted to pay. Today before going to Costco, we stopped by a few thrift stores, and guess what? We found a really neat metal headboard for $10.00! I'm so excited, and can't wait till Hubs can get it installed. I'll try to post pics when it's done.
