What did you do in the garden today?

I got the job!! :wee I am excited to say that it comes with health & dental insurance, plus a week of vacation and a 401k!
The bad part is that the Friday shift is from 4:30 to 4:30, The Saturday and Sunday shifts are 5:30 to 5:30 (which is a little better). I was hoping for 6 to 6. but it is what it is.
I go Tuesday for health and drug test and then start training Monday through Wednesday 9 to 4:30. After that they decide if I need more training or if I'm ready to start working. I think most of the training is going to be safety information about the whole factory. After all, how much training would a person need to assemble boxes and put on the appropriate labels on the boxes. :idunno

I've been busy reading all about beekeeping. I ordered my bees ( a nuc) and my daughter and her friend are coming over on Sunday so her friend can teach me all she knows about beekeeping!

Good morning gardeners. Sorry for your loss @WthrLady. Congratulations on the new job @karenerwin. Well, the melting continues in the yard. There are blades of grass emerging from the "glacier" LOL! It's 36F and raining right now. Early Sunday morning it's all turning to snow. I'm taking a break from working on the bathroom. I had to do another coat of paint on the ceiling yesterday and have filled in all the dings and holes. Still need to sand then finally paint the walls. I'm off to run errands in a bit. I'm curious as to the height on the boards you used on your garden beds @Acre4Me? When I build the extension in the backyard I was going to use 6 inch x 8 foot boards to frame it to cut down on the amount of dirt I need to fill it. I need to sort through my leftover seed packets and determine what I need to buy before I venture into my discount store. So that's about as far as I've got on the garden planning. Keep those lovely green photos coming. I do have my indoor plans but outside I have a scraggly rhododendron and some really tall pines, but otherwise it's grey, brown or white. Take care and have a great day everyone.

Oh the postman is going to hate me. LOL. I think I ordered about 30 catalogs last night. Sunny and almost 45-50 this weekend. A few chore, but nothing hideous. I HOPE. Quick coop and barn scoop out. Install a bigscreen tv in the workshop. Work on the bathroom build. Plan quail coop.

Have challah rising, and need to buy cream to make some mysost this week.

Exciting eh?

Congratulations @karenerwin!

@WthrLady ...mmm...challah! makes excellent French toast the next day too!

@Wee Farmer Sarah, our boards are 12” tall. This was the height of the old beds and seemed to work well for gardening. Ideally I would have liked them a bit higher, but that lots more dirt to get into the beds and we decided 12” was good.

We received 2 new seed catalogues I’ve never heard of: Prairie Moon Nursery (MN) and John Scheepers Kitchen Garden Seeds (CT).

Sad news. Little Suzy Q passed away this morning. She seemed to be doing so much better but she just didn't make it. I'm a bit at a loss because the ground is frozen so burial is out of the question. I wrapped her in aluminum foil and plastic and paper then put her in a plastic container with a tight fitting lid then locked her in the garden shed so no wild animals would get her. I can't afford to have her cremated. It cost over $200 to have my little chihuahua cremated last February and this chicken was twice her size. The temperatures are going to plummet the day after tomorrow so everything will be frozen again. Any other suggestions? Would it be wrong if I cremated her myself?
