What did you do in the garden today?

What beautiful babies! Also the name dorking made me giggle

it is funny! They have been around since Roman times apparently. They have been good flock birds, except the 9 month old RD male we currently have. NONE of the girls are impressed and he is so very desperate for some willing female acquiescence. Occasionally he resorts to Going INTO to coop and doing the alarm call to get some girls inside so he can jump one of them  . Anyway, he doesn’t know it yet, but he’s going to be relegated to his own enclosure soon. hopefully this male chick is better liked by the flock.

I had a great Wels. She was very cautious as well. I love my ameraucana blue EE. Sweet things. My BO is a dork. She shares a brain with her farm store tub mate who is a RedStar. There are some days neither one has the brain. I don't know where it is, maybe they rent it out and forget who has the keys.

Lemon tree in lemon pot with the little cabbage plant isn't. I think it's a millet plant. No one here will fess up to having put a millet seed in the pot. Explains why it grows inches every couple of days. It's GRASS! Now I have to mow the kitchen???

I want to work out in the shed, but idiot neighbor is smoking out the hill top with a barrel burn. He couldn't do it on a cold day that no one wants to be outside, No. He couldn't do it when the wind ISN"T blowing towards all the houses, but instead on the empty park below. No. Grrrr. If I work in it, I'll end up with a lay in the dark want to crawl in a hole sinus headache for 24 hours. Grumble.

OK back to mask making.

Have a great day all :)

Perhaps the millet seed was a well timed April Fools joke??

BO sharing a brain-LOL. We’ve only had one really dumb bird, but I think it was partially due to a very highly tuned flight response, causing freak outs regularly and “stupid” behaviors and responses. But, we sold her recently. Hopefully these chicks are good flock additions!

Oh bravo @Acre4Me !!! What a bunch of cuties!!! and, thank you so much for sharing the photos and a bit more of their stories :love please update when you can.

I walked out my back door and saw my two pullets, who wanted to sleep in the big coop last night, sitting on garden cage looking pretty cute. Almost at the end of the dinosaur stage... anywho, in the 5 sec. that it took me to grab my phone one had jumped down. But here are my updated photos of these two.

I noticed the Brahma roo had eye worms... a bit young for that... so I nabbed him and put drops in his eyes. As I was putting him and his sister back in the mini coop I noticed motion outside of our fence. It was Rosie. I had not seen her for a few days but knowing she was at the end of her hatch I did not worry. I have her marked to emerge this coming Tuesday .
I brought some food around to her noticing she would not jump fence and thinking I caught a glimpse of something tiny....

7, and one is a baby Gus :ya:jumpy !!!!

6 from the wild roo, bummer. Maybe I can give them away when the time comes.... :hmm

OK, so I pulled out the 'millet' and got the whole seed root. I looked at it and actually said OOOOH! LOL ! I PLANTED it. It was a wheat berry that I dropped on the floor while grinding wheat.
Ah, rusty memories eh?

Scream-a-pillar thinks she's broody again.
Ellie our good broody went too. So I have scream-a-pillar on one egg, and Ellie on 3. I'll hatch a scream-a-pillar/maran egg and the rest as pure breen FCMarans. I'd like ONE cockerel from my big boy. He's so good.

What. A. Day.
I went to a friend’s to learn how to process rabbits and came home with two does that I was NOT ready for! Haha!

so, a few hours later I had all the food and gizmos and built the hutch.
I used to raise New Zealand Whites ( meat rabbit). My hubby doesn't want me to do rabbits and chickens for some reason.
I thought I had him talked into letting me get 2 does and a buck, but that hasn't happened yet. I mainly want them for the rabbit poop! It's great for the garden :love plus I figure if I'm going to have rabbits they may as well be meat rabbits.
The guy I bought them from 20 years ago lived in Illinois. Not sure I have his contact info any more. Maybe after all this covid19 stuff is over I can find someone fairly close by to get more from.
