What did you do in the garden today?

Moved a few of the tender seedlings to bigger pots, dumped the rabbit poop into the raised beds. The sun finally burned through so I put the chicks out in the run to play. DP still isn't feeling well so it's another lazy day. I'll take some new pictures of the garden tomorrow and post them, it's perked up since the nights have been warmer.

GUESS WHAT?! the peonies that I hit last year with the tractor? They were up 8 inches in the lawn ! I dug the whole round up and put them in the new stone bed. Now I wonder which one's they were, the dark pink doubles or the ballerina two tone pink doubles.
We were told it doesn't get cold enough in the winter here for peonies but the owner of a local nursery says she keeps hers in pots and they do fine. The coop and run have river rock in front of them now and a half whiskey barrel with a peony in it would look great!

Not complete in this picture but you get the idea.

Good afternoon gardeners. @TropicalBabies love the pics! All I did outside today was water the grass and take care of the chickens. I fell back to sleep after hubs left for work, then just puttered around the house. Went to TSC for a bale of hay for the bunny while hubs waited for the guy to check out the a/c before we run it this year. Pizza in the oven. My rooster has had some purple in the tips of his comb which I've read can be an indicator of heart or liver problems; it has been off and on for a while now. Sad about that and not sure what I'm going to do about it. Anyway, have a great night everyone.

One day, a mantis was hunting bumble bees on the feeder and grabbed a little hummingbird instead. I pounced on the mantis and rescued one very confused little fluffy butt.

Unrelated...but I'll never forget when a squirrel started to attack one of our silkies. I was in the bedroom folding laundry, happened to look out the window, and noticed the varmint dragging her by the neck under the wheelbarrow. I was so mad I punched out the screen window and threw the remote control at it. You gotta do...what you gotta do!

I am sorry to hear this @igorsMistress. Sounds like poor blood circulation too. I know there are some tonics to increase circulation and aid in hydration. I am praying for your Mr. Roo 🌈

Thank you. If I have to do the deed it will be in a couple of days. I have the opportunity to get a roo from completely different blood lines to replace him. Maybe that'll be my best choice really.

The weather people lied...today is the first day we've had anything remotely close to "sunshine." But alas, I've been stuck inside programming exams so I haven't had much opportunity to be outside.

But life is good. Gotta a bunch of eggs. Hubby hauled in more wood. The babies have graduated from the nursery to the greenhouse. My j bantams are super nuts and I don't think I've ever come across such a spaz type breed? They literally spar with each other like Ninjas. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome...

As for the others...its 6:30 and they're not ready for bed. They're all the way down the hill and Mr. Sophie (our roo) is trying to get everyone back up. But I don't blame them for wanting to stay out? We have SUN!! So I guess we're extending curfew tonight :love

Here's some pics. First two are of cosmos and a "spinach mix" seeds, then some greens on our balcony, and had to throw in an 'indoor' pic too. I like keeping succulents and my science experiments around the kitchen. That said. I also made a facial astringent for Ayla and I from chamomile, lavender, sage, rosemary and rose petals. Can't stand to spend money on something if I can make it myself!

Understandable. We always seem to have at least 2 to 3 roos on deck. So if something unfortunate happens to the commander-in-chief, the other boys have a good idea of how to take the reigns. I'm one of those who swears by having a rooster. I hope the best for you! 🌷
