What did you do in the garden today?

You better start eating breakfast earlier because who know's what else is in store this week. I'm putting as much time into the yard as I can right now and coming across all sorts of good photo ops.
Man you are busy!!! Way to go and all is looking fantastic. I don't know what ol' @AllenK RGV is talking about... I saw it and all I could think of was I bet there is a garden benefit in all of that muck, just gotta get the stones out but that is what kids are for right?
Well, BReeder, you are accomplishing a lot and it is going to be fabulous!!!!

Until all my new root pouches arrive. Then I'll transplant the 2 small guys into 15 gallon bags. The can grow out all summer til early winter when they will be transplanted into above ground planters for spring harvest.
Love those pots! Will they arrive within this growing season lol? Our mail has gotten very problematic the last 2-3 years and with this pandemic it has only made things worse to impossible. Has anyone else had issues or is this an island thing?
.... anywho, i'm having a bit of pot envy. :p

What kind of netting/ cover do you all use?
I can't say i recommend the netting I'm using yet as i don't know how it will last or fare over the season.

I have to shore up parts because there are gaps in it where critters can get through. But the good thing about it is that the netting is taut so that birds and critters can't get tangled in it. Two of my chickens have already figured out how to get in.

So my new start artichokes are looking sad and the answer was obvious they are root bound. Went out to the shed and I only have 3 15 gallon root pouches left. So instead of sweating in the heat filling those 3 I have I hopped online in the AC and ordered 3 (10)packs each of the 5, 10, and 15 gallon containers. I still have 5 year old ones that the Texas sun still has not destroyed so if you are looking for pots you can drag in due to temperatures this product is great. Every Pineapple gets one, and winter sensitive crops too. Mine come from greenhousemegastore.com although I do not know if that is the best price just where I have always gotten them. 5-50 gallon sizes all have the requisite handles. The grey ones break down too easy after 2-3 years.

These are a good idea, I'm going with a different brand for cost reasons so we'll see if I kick myself later for pinching pennies.

The day is running warm then chilly with misting rain thrown in. Seemed a good day to hit the feed store. Got more pine shavings, another chick waterer, and a litter scoop for the poop boards. The 3 week olds insist they are real chickens now and understand roosts and pop doors so I ruined their day by banding them. I am a monster, just ask them. Going to start offering them vegetable scraps and see if that makes it up to them.

Sun just burned through again so going out now to up-pot more of the tender vegetables.
