What did you do in the garden today?

Yesterday we had a high of 81 with sun, today we had a high of 51 with clouds and rain.
I did a little bit of work in the yard, but not too much. I was wearing a scarf, gloves and a coat in addition to regular clothes and was still cold!
Hubby and I went to Lowe's and bought the supplies for building a @BReeder! raised garden bed! We tried to find the steel roofing panels on Craigslist, but couldn't find any nearby, but we did come across a free source of aged manure!!
A lady about 20 minutes away operates an animal rescue and has year old manure ( llamas, chicken, horse...) for free! Of course it will be heavy as sin since we had a torrential downpour yesterday and light rains today, but it's FREE!
So tomorrow we will grab our shovels and our motivation and go shovel manure. Not sure if we will fill plastic totes or just line the back of the van with tarps and plastic and shovel it directly in there.
I did get more chain link fence removed and reinstalled over the cattle panels that make up the dog run area. I still have more I need to do though. Plus we will need to get to the store tomorrow to buy puppy food and chew toys. Trying to decide if I need another smallish kennel or not. I think the 2 of them will fit in the one I have but they won't have much room or at least won't have much room for long!
Pulled a bunch of weeds from the area behind the garage ( where the apple trees and raspberry plants are. Also found some broken handles ( from shovels or whatever) to use as stakes for the raspberries. Threw the weeds to the chickens. Then had to come in to warm up! 😂

Busy day of work-work and little time for outside pleasures. Our summer 3W1, 5W1, and 5W2 sessions begin on the 11th - egads!
Had to go into the city too for groceries, gas, feed, etc.:barnieSpied a bunch of --> millennials <--- not adhering to protocol and absent of a mask.

But! We got some weed whacking done. And some of my seeds are flourishing.

P.S. Sorry if I seem a bit "you know what," but this younger generation is just so spoiled?? I can't surf, I can't go to the movies, I can't get my hair done, blah, blah blah. I'd like to see them function during WWI or WWII. 🤣

Going back to the root pouches idea I don't know why I'm thinking about building raised beds when I can plop in a 400-500 gallon root pouch that is 6 feet across for around 30 dollars each. I have been using this product since 2014 and know how long it lasts. Sure they are 6 foot wide 2 foot tall circles vs 4x8 squares. Regardless less labor intensive vs all the lumber trimming ect. for more cost.
