I have an on demand water heater in my house and I hate it. You have to run the faucet for a while until the water heats up so there is a lot of waste. It works better in the summer but my bathroom is on the other side of the house from the water heater so it cools down before it gets to the shower on cold days. I may well likely have a supplemental hot water heater installed this year.

Sound like yours is not rate correctly for the bathrooms in your home always loved ours that is why we wanted another here

There’s only one bathroom. However , I’m sure the weather here is colder than your area.

That looks great! Did you use a brush or spay cans? We've sprayed the lower half of the run (my smart DP's idea) and it made a huge difference in being able to watch the chickens. Why had I never heard of that before?

I used a roller on a pole! It only took me about 40 minutes to roll 75 feet, 6 feet tall. It was oil based enamel Rustoleum, it should hold up pretty well since it's was like rolling tar, lol.

And thanks for the seed order scoop. Considering ordering next year's seeds now... Apparently many of the seed companies are already warning about 2021 shortages.

Oh that's nothing! We're having the hottest summer ever recorded in Phoenix. 50 days over 110 and a 2 week stretch of close to 115 every day. That pic is showing we're cooling off.

I couldn't do it, it's bad enough here when it's 95 & humid. I remember when we were rafting the Colorado river - it was 112 degrees & everyone was saying well it's dry heat so it's not bad...NOPE - 112 is smoking hot, humid or not! 65 is good for me. Or 25 & snowing, that's perfect!

Morning everyone. We got some big storms last night & of course our well house got hit by lightning so we have no water, again, & will be under a boil advisory, again, when it does come back.

On a good note we got some rain so I don't have to water (not that I could if I had to)! It's my day off, I'm taking it easy today so not much going on around here.

You can keep the 25* and snowing lady! 65 is about perfect though. You can get outside and do some work and eventually take off the sweatshirt because you're warming up.

Morning . Tomato seed saving tip . I hopefully have a hand pollinated cross . Ripe tomato so saving seed . Fermenting is usual for seed . However I use vinegar to remove the gel . Accidentally discovered this making vinergarett cucumber / tomato salad . Plus side is this works with little chance of seed sprouting (even refrigerated) . Doing cucumber seed also today . Another tomato processing tip . Quick paste . Let your cooked juice cool until you see it start clump / separate into clear juice and meat . I then run it through a cider press mesh bag suspended over a pot in a pasta type strainer . You get nearly clear juice in the pot and paste in the bag . No long boiling to reduce . I add some of the paste back into Juice I have not strained to thicken to desired consistency .

Good morning gardeners. Yay, no rain. Apparently @Sueby got it all and then some. Sorry lady. We have had an especially hot summer here in New England. We have had 5 official heatwaves where the the temps were at 90F or higher for at least 3 days at a time. Actually 21 days altogether of 90+ temps. And the snow isn't that big of a deal when you have a big, healthy snowblower. And you can work up a sweat pushing that monster through 2 feet of snow. I've had to toss the winter coat and just wear a hoodie while plowing. The chickens had a night visitor. Nothing serious, just the lavender plant knocked over and the littles knocked over their water jug in a panic. I'm guessing a raccoon or the neighbor's cat. My radishes and curly endive are coming up. I'm hoping to see the chard breaking through the dirt soon. There is an article in the Old Farmers Almanac on how to harvest and prepare acorns to eat. I'll be making a copy of that. No plans for the garden today. I need to go to the grocery store and buy lemon juice and I will be heading to the orchard to get the peaches today. Apparently there has been a recall of grocery store peaches due to a salmonella outbreak. This local orchard doesn't supply any grocery store chains, so I'm sure they are safe. Later today I need to pull up my tomato plants that got ravaged by green hookworms luckily, I had a pretty good harvest this year and it's just about time for them to be done anyway here. Then I need to weed, and put out about 10 bags of mulch, and plant some blueberries, blackberries and raspberry bushes! Probably won't get it all done until tomorrow...

Looks like maybe another day of off and on rain here, and rain again tomorrow....so maybe no gardening for me!
