What did you do in the garden today?

Above, Beans! Below Hemp (feeding seeds to Chickens, Leaves to Rabbits. The bud material will probably just go into my broths, not sure yet. maybe I use it as a spice or what ever. I could smoke it I because it helps with relaxation but it won't get me high. Might as well put it in my broths for that.

Been busy trying to get everything ready for the storm apparently now coming right for us. I am just concerned with the amount of water and how slow this storm is moving sine we are on a watershed from the river.
We'll keep you can everyone else in the path in our thoughts. I swear sometimes I think the planet is trying to shake us off.
@NewBoots I usually make burgers with a super thick slice of tomato, lettuce, mayo, pickles & half an avocado. Or I will make a garlic avocado aioli. I 💕 avocado.
Oooo, I forgot avocado. mmmmm avocado. A restaurant that I went to as a kid got me hooked on creamy blended guacamole made with avocado, a little onion, and mayo! Dang I haven't made that in forever, I think I'll make a some to have with the eggs and toast for lunch. I need to make more salsa too while I still have tomatoes.
I removed the duct tape bandage and I believe the majority of its 2 1/2 pounds will be useable.
That is so cool, I hate losing produce to pests.

Much less smoke today so I went out and I got the human side of the coop cleaned up and sorted out all the chick raising stuff. That'll all go in a bin and into the barn attic. I threw all the feeders and waterers in a bin for through scrubbing and storage. Put up hangers for scoops and coop cleaning stuff. I finally got off the dime and cleaned up 'cuz the guy who built the coop and run is coming over tomorrow to give us a bid on a couple of jobs. :lau

The weather folks are still promising us rain this week but it's lovely out right now, good day to start prepping the beds for the fall and winter crops. About the only thing in the beds still producing is the tomatoes so there's plenty to do. Later all!

I did knock a big jar of blackstrap molasses off the pantry shelf this morning

:rant:hit

THAT must have taken a while to clean up!

Once, I knocked over a measuring cup with about 2C of vegetable oil in it....it fell towards me, and all down my jeans (of course, it had to be denim), and all over the floor. It took awhile to clean and many rinses on the jeans before I would even think of putting them into the washing machine bc so much oil had soaked in. However, it certainly didn't smell like molasses.

Sliced beetroot on burgers is a local tradition.

cooked or raw or pickled?

pictures?

where you at? You can add your general location to your profile too. My daughter is in the Destin, FL area and getting over 10" rain today and a few more inches tomorrow from the hurricane.

last real haul of the green beans. Only a few left, and a few plants are trying to flower again, so I'll leave those, but not sure we will get more beans.

Watermelons. I think only 2 have any chance of being edible. The biggest one at the bottom of the pic should be fairly ripe.

Good afternoon gardeners. I’ll be outside to water later when it cools off. Not much happening out there but I can tell ya, chickens like society garlic. Going to have to protect those. Hubs and I will have the house to ourselves all weekend, you have NO IDEA how happy that makes me. I just got into it with my daughter and when she had a smart mouth I offered to smack her face like she does to the grandson, right in front of him too. Said now you know where he gets it from and you deserve all that you get. She’s outside sulking. Waaah.

This afternoon I am watching the incubator. One hatchling and several pips.
