What did you do in the garden today?

thanks!! Several of us were interested in growing luffa bc of @TropicalBabies! And a few of us managed to grow some, but not sure how successful. I’m not sure how successful mine will be either -I need to look up if I let it dry on the plant or bring in to dry. :idunno And I have several birdhouse gourds and need to figure out those too.
If you can wait till it starts to yellow then you can pick and dry inside. It does not necessarily HAVE to dry on plant if your weather conditions get dicey. I bet if NEED be you will have some success picking mature green Loofas's. Most exciting your garden harvest!!!!

So it rolled in there I am sorry .. I was out in the garden handed 15 tomatilla to neighbor I had not met, now have. Another gourd to be brought in ..
one stalk of Brussle sprouts ready to eat prefer them small to medium in size ..
Thought our smoke was moving out nope more rolling in now

Good afternoon gardeners. @Wee Farmer Sarah cute little chef guy there. I hope my butternut squash look that good next year! So far my seedlings are hanging in there and I still need to protect the society garlic from the chickens. I have 5 chicks in the incubator and one died after it pipped. There are still 3 eggs in there but I’m not holding my breath. These are Turken eggs but 4/5 are fully feathered. I figure it’s my turn since I’ve never had a single hatch of Nn with fully feathered chicks. I hope to get them outside this evening so I’ll be out there to set up the brooder soon. They are nice and big though. Not much else is going on, my daughter took the boys to get keys for where she will be house sitting and the silence is deafening. I’m hoping to get the lumber we need for the garden walls this weekend and some dirt as well, we really need to get that going. I have only a couple of weeks and I can start putting in seeds. We’ve had really hot temps as late as Halloween though so hopefully that won’t be the case this year.

DH got a call last night, one of the guys working for him is feeling sick & went to get tested for COVID...so we're all in quarantine now. DH went & got tested last night, we should know by the weekend.
ACK! That's scary, please keep us updated.
At least the house will smell amazing for a few days while the dehydrator is going.
I love how the house smells when I have the dehydrator working. In fact I just had to go get some of the jerky and zucchini to snack on. Do you strip the leaves off the stems before you dry them?
I also made 6 more squash breads, I added cocoa to 2 of them. I'll freeze them & then vacuum seal them.
Dang it, I'm an idiot, I tried to vacuum seal the the muffins before freezing! It didn't go well. :he
This year I took time to research how to grow tomatoes and realized that bushy tomato plants do not produce much fruit, and keeping a plant to one long tall supported vine would produce a lot of tomatoes.
I'm really happy with the crop of tomatoes I got this year but next year, I'll plant even more and I'm going to try the single stalk method for maybe half of them.
Morning again I have one plant of brussle ready to eat how do you treat yours?..
Do you pull the entire plant? we prefer them smaller not huge one is ready others no where near it
This is my first year growing them and I read that you should just pull off the sprouts as they reach the size you are looking for.

Overcast here all day so far, it's threatening rain but nothing so far. I froze 15 pounds of tomatoes for canning later and picked another 12 pounds, mostly cherry and small salad types. I finally took the 2 pints of cowboy candy out to the garage to get them out of my sight. I want to open one so badly. I think I'll have to buy more jalapenos since I am willing to bet 2 pints won't be enough.
