while I eat 2nd breakfast
Hobbit-es were farmers. Farmers eat second breakfast.ah ha! Part hobbit, must be part of why you are so good at gardening. Do you enjoy elevenses too?Sorry, we just watched LOTR part 1 the other night -a family favorite.
Morning all. Cold out there! Not supposed to get much into the 30s today. Hoping that kills all the pollen & my allergies lighten up.
I have to take a ride & drop off a sample for a fecal float for the new girls. Man do I despise this avian vet - he told me the respiratory disease my first set of birds had wouldn't make them carriers for life when I specifically asked. My set of 4 older pullets disagree.Had I known I may have culled the original 4 & started over. Anyway, I called this am & asked if I could drop off a sample he said well I can't do anything without seeing them, it's been over a year. I said they're backyard chickens, I'm supposed to bring the whole flock in for an annual physical every year? WTH? I said I don't need you to treat them, you can tell me the level of coccidiosis or if it's worms, right? He hesitated & then said he would. Now I feel like I should just bring it to my dog vet instead. At least they're competent.
Ugh, sorry for that rant that has nothing to do with the garden!!
Have a great day all!
What did you do in your garden today?
I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!![]()
It's summer here in South Africa so busy busy busy ... Watering, weeding, harvesting (tomatoes! so many tomatoes!) and planning more (raised) beds - I need place for my onion starts. And I'm also growing herbs to sell so I've spent a couple of mornings (coz it's cooler) transplanting the starts into pretty pots for Christmas prezzies. Also (organic) spraying my fruit trees and checking the fittings on the drip irrigation system - they're always clogging?!
... It's 8PM and I'm ready for bed
