What did you do in the garden today?

The deck is done, well it's built, for the greenhouse. I'll let the wood dry out in the Nebraska breeze for several days (it's already been drying in the heated shop with a fan on it and it's was STILL soaking wet from the kiln). When it's more dry, I'll seal the spaces between the boards with flexi caulking and then paint and get the greenhouse up. So maybe this time next week.

Pulled the rest of the collards bc its been 80 here the last 2 days so they were wanting to bolt. Then took some pics of the early spring greenery that has been popping up. Cherry tree is in full bloom.

Hi Penny, thanks for asking. She is doing alright except that she doesn’t want to eat much. She is also not taking her medication. I’ve tried switching up what I hide it in and it usually works for 1 dose and then after that she won’t eat ( peanut butter, hotdogs or whatever) even when there isn’t any medication in it. I’ve tried just putting the medication way back and holding her snout closed until she swallows but even then after the first time it doesn’t work anymore. She had 1 pill frothing up like she was rabid. 😳
She isn’t throwing up any more but she is also not putting the weight back on either.
My husband has even tried buying some different types of dog food. Again they interest her for a day or so ( but still not eating a lot of it) and then she isn’t interested anymore.
How big are the pills ? pill shooter or hamburger

good morning, wet out today but only drizzling quite mild so I think I,ll get out and do the tidying up jobs that need doing .I seem to have a list in my head of to do things and I can,t settle until the next one,s done .silly but it seem,s to work I,m getting through a lot of jobs .Next month I hope to buy a shredder and get all the accumulated wood ,twigs etc collected from last year made into mulch .Our clocks moved forward this weekend so we lost an hour but we have more daylight now much better ,I love the lighter evenings .

Nope you're not. You can get shingles again and again and again. I had them twice before my vaccine. First time was worse, second not as bad. Shingles shot 1 wasn't horrible, Shingles shot 2 was argh.
That's so not what I wanted to hear, lol. Well I have to have a physical this year so I'll be asking about it. I def do not want to EVER get shingles again!

Nothing doing here today, supposed to rain all day. The thing I love most about this house is the peepers in the spring & boy are they out! I adore hearing them. One of the chickens caught one the other day, I felt horrible for the poor thing but y'all know how that goes.

Enjoy the last bit of the weekend.

Wet today. Tomorrow should be a great sunny day. Today, however, will be windy. So, the starts will likely stay inside, unless the wind direction is coming from the west.

started more pepper seeds! We plan to grow a lot! I’m considering starting more tomato seeds, however, we likely have all we need. The tomato starts were transplanted into larger containers yesterday.

It’s raining again today. Woke up to hail and 60mph winds. It’s calmed down now and I just checked on the chickens and the greenhouse. Both seem intact. It’s still to wet to get out in the garden and I think I’ll be cutting privet up at the house since the patch at the river is under water. I might cut some privet or rake pine straw today that’s all.

Lazy start to the day. Rain is supposed to start around noon. I may tidy up outside a bit before it starts. My seed potatoes from Gurneys should be here tomorrow. I was able to pick up two bags of garden dirt at my little discount store yesterday. The raised bed I'm using as a hoop garden this year is where my Roma tomatoes were last year. Still had issues with blight there so I thought I'd mix in some fresh dirt for these salad greens I'm planting. I won't put in the hoops and plastic until Tuesday or Wednesday. The rain moving in today should be around an inch so I want the ground there to get a good soaking before covering it all up. It appears some of my leeks from last year actually survived the winter. I won't be planting anything in that bed until mid-May so let's hope they develop into an edible size. I do need to start some more parsley and chives. The chives are struggling and I didn't have enough parsley to dehydrate for the kitchen last summer. I must plant more. So yesterday, I caught my rooster taking the whole "escort" thing to the extreme when I spotted him standing guard just inside one of the nest boxes with one of my hens trying to produce an egg. I think he finally caught on to the girls hiding out in the nest boxes to escape his advances. :lau I chased him away.

Yup. Poor peepers usually end up going in about 4 different directions.
Peepers are out here too. I LOVE It. (Ask me again in May when they're keeping me up all night.)
Plans to weed the garden and trim the orchard today. We'll see how that pans out.
I need to go out and move some tomato starts from their mass flat sprouting tray into some solo cups. I'm going to need more solo cups. LOL.
And start the cherry tomatoes.
AND....friend that has a gorgeous cut flower business at her place placed an order for me for seeds back in August, I forgot, and those seeds just came in, so.....
I'm going to have to try at least a couple of those tomato seeds. New variety of san mars in there.
Plus all the dill, mustard and zinnias, and CORN!

I'f I get this greenhouse going, I might actually have enough to sell!!!!
