What did you do in the garden today?

I weeded my strawberries, which fruited in january and still are. They're 2 years old and I picked 12 today. I also transplanted two baby semi-wild orange canna shoots. Yesterday I picked some semi-wild pink/white lilies.

I ordered bush meaning to order poles, decided to keep them & ordered more poles. Now I'm disappointed I have NO bush & tons of poles! My life story.

Also will look at all of those wild blackberries. I have at least a few thousand to pick when they turn black...

Turkey poults:

down to 5 (mentioned a few days ago) bc one was not growing at all, must have had something wrong with it internally.

--Transferred the remaining 5 to larger brooder in the barn, still residing with the 6 chicken chicks (that are the same age).

One of the 5 poults is trying to die. Yes, I've repeatedly heard turkeys look for ways to die. I'm pretty sure it went on a hunger strike when moved. So, we brought it inside last night to give it NutriDrench and wet feed, and water. This morning, same thing. It has perked up some. Hopefully, we have foiled it's death plans.

Plants on deck needed to be moved out of the wind. Which means they were moved out of the sun. Oh well, it is still brighter than indoors.

We have wild balckberries here getting to them before tha birs can ba challenging .. Going to as the better half if he will take the marshall strawberries to his berry patch .. that way all my tires are for food

It got down to 30 here last night and when I got to the greenhouse, about half the tomatoes and all of the peppers were wilted. I nearly cried. But after an hour or so of garden and critter work I checked again and they all look like they've recovered. I sure hope so. Temps this low this late in the year are not the norm but it's been dry as well so we might have a more "interesting" growing season than I'd prefer.

We also have a lot of wild blackberries that grow on our land. We made lots of blackberry jam last year!

I love wild black berries I almost refuse to eat the cultivated ones these days. My problem is getting into the patches to pick them. They often get over 7 feet high and the patches are extremely dense. Very difficult for my 4’11 self to navigate.

We have wild one here left to their own over the years.
Try as might they attempt to take over the property They even dare to sprout in the tires I use to grow veggies

I can relate.... I lost both Anaheim pepper plants and all of the Dill I had planted. The crookneck squash is pretty battered, but when I looked at it today it looks like it is trying hard to battle back. I might hold off on buying more to see if it pulls through.... Fingers crossed, I hope our freezes are done for the spring.
